I am super proud that my daughter's painting about her great grandma's Holocaust experience was selected for the Royal Academy Young Artists' online show. It was one of 545 selected out of 23000 entries. If you like it, you can scroll down on the link and vote for it for the People's Choice Award. It only takes a few seconds and she would massively value your support! Thank you 🙏https://youngartists.royalacademy.org.uk/exhibitions/2025/139594

Holocaust Heritage

This self-portrait is a personal exploration of the Holocaust. My great Grandma Hanna was a survivor. She lost everything when she was 4 years older than me. I wanted to reimagine her story—how I would feel in her shoes. Hanna is my middle name. I dep...

Wow! What a gift! Very evocative. Your daughter's explanation of the painting gave me goosebumps.

Good nuchus to you. Her work is great. I voted! You must feel so proud of her. Is her grandmother, Hanna, still with us to be proud too?

Nossuperesse · 18/07/2025 12:35

Brilliant!

Thank you for your kind words and voting for her. It's her great grandma and she sadly passed away a few years ago. We have her written memoirs and videos of her telling her incredible but harrowing story

I'm sorry - you did say 'great grandma' in your opening post. Those memoirs and videos must be very precious.

What a beautiful and original concept.

As we have fewer and fewer Survivors around us - and most people will never even have met a Survivor - the Holocaust becomes something that happened to someone else. It is wonderful how your dd has thought about her DGGM Hannah's experiences and tried to relate them to herself, to think about how she herself might be affected. And created something beautiful.

What naches for you!
