Where best to sell gold?

I have some gold jewellery to sell and would like to do so now the price is high.

However I'm struggling to decide who / which company is reputable & don't want to get ripped off.

There is an independent lovely jewellery shop locally who would take it for me but their commission is pretty high.

Any recommendations of company you have used?

It depends on what you have really. Is it simple gold necklaces/bacelets or gem set jewellery? I’d start with a local auction house and get them to look at everything - they will confirm it’s real and if anything will sell better as a piece of jewellery rather than as just gold scrap. Firms like Hatton Garden metals buy gold and although you will be 10% or so below spot price they will still usually offer more than a high street jeweller. They don’t include a value on the stones though so anything with diamonds or gems may be better at auction.
