I am saving in to the above investment trust to pay off my mortgage which is is interest only. It is not doing that well with growth any alternatives that anyone would recommend? I have been with this since it was F&C, BMO now Columbia Threadneedle for many years as it has been around forever and is a stable investment but growth is not great...any tips/ideas? Thanks.

How long have you been investing in the fund? What’s the annual return? What’s the overall return?

have you tried https://pickafund.com/

its easier to use than other apps and I found their comparison page very useful in the past. i found your fund on it

you may be better off in a passive low cost world tracker fund. they are cheaper and spread your money all over the place

It's share price is up 43% over 5 years plus I imagine you will get a yearly dividend as well.
What are your expectations?
If you want growth you need to look at Trusts that are designed that way like SMT however it's more volatile 5 year return is 58% but it's been a wild ride.

I've been happy with F&C and its successors over more than 20 years, both from dividends and capital appreciation. In my opinion its a large and stable fund. But your needs and opinion may differ from mine.

I've been invested over 20 years...it is safe and steady but returns are not that great in my view....
