30 years ago I bought a PEP via my bank Abbey national (now Santander) For years i was receiving paperwork for a S & S ISA but never did much as I had not been told about it and never added anything to it after the original deposit I was really confused I contacted santander who told me it was a fund and sent some paperwork to access these funds after all these years! I have done my own research and it appears this is not a good fund Yuck

A PEP was always invested in stock and shares, unit trusts that sort of thing

30 years is a long time to not even glance at your investment tbh

Was there not a legislative change in the nineties whereby all then extant PEPS, by then a legacy product not open to further subscriptions, were converted to ISAs?

Muddle2000 · 30/09/2023 11:13

They were transferred to Isa in 1999 but the Investment Hub only opened a few years ago i think

@Muddle2000 You've lost me now.

Initial question was around an assertion around your PEP becoming an ISA 'without notice'.

That seems to be a name/regulatory change as a result of a change in the legal provisions for tax free savings accounts. The sum, presumably, remained invested as before in equities.

The Santander Investment Hub is the interface Santander use for their customers to manage investment activity on line.

Is your actual complaint that the investment(s) have underperformed?

Muddle2000 · 09/10/2023 10:44

Well yes as it happens it is pretty bad eg Which say it is their worst performer
But also not having it made clear how I accessed the account All I got was just statements and a phone number
