Transferring SAYE shares to an ISA

treblegold · 03/07/2022 07:07

I know its possible to transfer SAYE shares into an ISA within 90 days of receipt because it says so here: www.gov.uk/tax-employee-share-schemes/transferring-your-shares-to-an-isa. But the major platforms like Hargreaves Lansdown and Fidelity don't seem to offer it. Presumably that's because they think they won't make any money from them if a high proportion of customers aren't interested in trading their employer's shares? Can anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive ISA provider that offers the service?

Hi Treblegold,
I have same problem - did you get this sorted? If so with whom?

Marmite27 · 14/04/2023 09:01

I think HSBC and first direct offer sharedealing services and stocks and shares ISAs.

@rwm same boat here - I can find companies that talk about offering it but then no details for getting started or their fees. It’s so frustrating!!

Interactive investor offers it

Thanks @WonderWoop

@Piffpaffpoff did you end up opening an account with interactive investor or with another company?

Chewbecca · 14/10/2023 11:42

Bit late for the OP but I have done this into my HSBC ISA.
It was a pain in the butt, I had to call them then post a letter and paper copies of stuff, but it did work!

atat100 · 14/10/2023 15:44

@Chewbecca Thanks!
I've been looking at the HSBC and First Direct ISA accounts, you experienced any drawbacks with using the HSBC ISA account?
I'm assuming the letter you're referring to is the letter of appropriation.

Chewbecca · 14/10/2023 17:36

No drawbacks, other than the need to use snail mail to do the transfer from SAYE.
I don’t recall what the paperwork they required was, I was just surprised at the request for physical paperwork! I posted it and it was sorted within a week anyway.
