What are the implications for savings in investment funds? Should savings just be left where they are?

Mine have tanked
But everything I read says to leave them alone and ride it out

Just checked one DC Pension and it has lost around 10% in 4 days! I also changed it to a very low risk fund as well!

Absolute blood bath today, unless you need it now, turn off the computer and stay invested.

ThreeRingCircus · 24/02/2022 15:45

Leave it well alone and ignore if you can. I do feel for people collecting pensions etc, I'm only at the start of making investments so this is a long term game for me. I'm thinking about removing my apps so I can't easily check things on my phone as it makes me more nervous even though everything I've read says hold firm.

I live off my pension investments and I discussed this with my advisor last month. Am going to try not to look and just ride it out.

hattie43 · 24/02/2022 16:41

I've lost about 10% in the last month or so. I'm just going to ride it out , not much else I can do except hope it goes back up .

I have seen other people on other forums say they are going to plough a load of money in but I'm not that brave

Invest in potatoes - to plant in the garden - Russia and Ukraine provide a third of the worlds grain. I can see shortages of bread and pasta.

I have put extra money in but not absolutely loads, £5k of the children's savings that were in cash I've put into a S&S ISA but that's really long term savings for them. I've got mixed feelings really, buying at a slump in the market is often advised but I don't want to be profiteering from the suffering of the poor people of Ukraine. But I am concerned as to the seemingly inevitable financial crisis deepening if people panic and withdraw their money so want to counter that as much as I can.

This.

Mine rose by £8k on Friday so maybe the shock of the war is stabalising although I'm still massively down overall . I'm drip feeding in every month because high street savings rates are so low inflation will erode them anyway .

Duntelchaig · 27/02/2022 08:29

Continue dripping in as usual. You want to invest during lows to bulk your recovery.
