I have £10000 to invest for 5 years, does this level seem ok or would it be better to go for 20%? I have a rainy day fund too in case of redundancy ( 6 months, I’m public sector so not a high likelihood of that ). Ideally looking to retire in 6 years.

When do you need the money? If you have an occupational pension, and maybe state pension, you might not need to access the cash as soon as you think?

Yes I have an occupational pension albeit I haven’t contributed all my working life. We are hoping to move house in about 5 years by which time the kids will have left home/ finished secondary school and it would be good to have some spare cash.
