Myself and my husband have been TTC baby #2 since June 2024. We had a MMC in April 2025 but haven’t conceived since then. Our consultant has diagnosed us with secondary unexplained infertility (which I prefer to call unexplored infertility) and recurrent miscarriages.
Bit of a back story, we started TTC baby #1 in November 2019, our son was born August 2022 after two MMC’s. Not long before conceiving our son, I was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden and took aspirin and blood thinning injections (Dalteparin) throughout my pregnancy. There wasn’t a plan in place with my last pregnancy and I didn’t get the Dalteparin until, I believe, too late. However, my consultant has said she doesn’t think this would have been the cause of the miscarriage and testing on the POC didn’t give any answers.
I had an AMH test last year which was 6.5 (so on the lower side).
Other blood tests I’ve had that were normal; Progesterone (26 pmol/L (low) the first time, 33.6 pmol/L (‘satisfactory’) the second), Oestrogen, FSH, LH, HBA1C, FBC, TSH, LFT, U&E, VITD, Folate, B12, Ferritin, Albumin, Phosphate, Calcium, Lupus, APS.
Scans: HSG (all clear) and currently waiting on a 3D ultrasound.
DH has had 3 semen analysis’ - He has low ‘normal forms’, but as the amount of sperm is high I’ve been told this will counterbalance it.
Our consultant said that our only option is IVF but I don’t really want to go down that route, 1. Due to cost and 2. We don’t know the cause for the infertility or miscarriages. This is when I asked for an ultrasound - She told me I was “clutching at straws” but I told her the only thing I’ve got left to do is clutch at straws, and she agreed to request it.
I feel like I’ve asked for everything I can think of. I’m just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? I know there’s DNA Fragmentation tests, and NK Cell testing, but we’d have to pay private for these and they’re quite pricy!
Also, If anyone has any miracle cures/things we could try, I’d love to hear them!
I’ve tried acupuncture and agnus castus, both didn’t seem to help. Myself and DH take Proceive, and I also take extra VitD, Iron and Folate.
