Complaint to IVF Clinic

Has anyone done this?

We have had a previous success and went for sibling round with different clinic (old clinic takeover). We stressed straight away we wanted to do exact same as successful round but they talked us out and changed medication (Meriofert instead of Menopur), no estrogen throughout fresh cycle and started on 155 instead of 225. We had an awful response and despite 14 eggs being collected, only 1 was fertilised and transferred on day 2. Had a follow up but with different doctor and they basically indicated that my protocol should never have been changed. We originally expressed concerns but they reassured us.

We are now £7K down the drain and feel that they caused this to fail. Don’t have the money to go again now either.

They didn’t even call to check in after I messaged about negative result and didn’t answer my question about stopping medication.

IVF clinics don't take responsibility for anything, if it doesn't work out they'll say it's because of your body not their actions or decisions. The regulation around it all is very poor, especially when we're spending huge sums of money. It's still worth submitting a complaint rather than doing nothing, you can also write to the HFEA and leave the clinic a bad review. Just be prepared that sadly nothing may come of it

This is disgusting OP. I'm very sorry this happened. What clinic is this?

I don’t want to name clinics sorry. Not sure what I want to achieve with complaining but just feel like I should. I’m just worried as if we have another cycle we realistically have to use them again as we have frozen sperm there. Worried if I complain it will make it worse for us!

I’m so sorry. You can transfer sperm between clinics. Do you know if the same staff are working at the clinic following the takeover or have they changed the key consultants/lab technicians?

completely understand why you feel hesitant to complain. Is there any way if you did a future round at this clinic that you could see the consultant you saw for your review / the one who told you your protocol should not have been changed?

We’ve moved aperm again and really want to avoid it. With the clinics fees and courier fees it’s an extra £1000 and worried about transporting again.

We moved to a completely different clinic with new staff etc. the doctor we saw is covering as the usual one is off.

We are thinking perhaps access fertility as there is that refund element but I’m unsure if we would be eligible given the frozen sperm and we have had some unsuccessful rounds.
