Hi all looking for some advice. We are starting ivf in Glasgow in a few weeks time. But we are travelling from Aberdeen. It’s proving near impossible to find accommodation for the week where scans will be required frequently. I’m thinking I’m just going to have to travel each time. In your experience. Are scans everyday? Or every couple of days? We are doing PGT testing. All very complicated! I appreciate its going to be different for everyone!

Hi @mrsawhite
From my last round and one I'm on just now, there isn't much at all in the first 5-7 days (could vary depending on your protocol I guess). But I remember last time after my first scan it got a bit more frequent sort of every other day and then as I got closer to egg retrieval maybe a couple of days in a row.
N.b. I'm with GRI.

I hope you are able to get something sorted accommodation-wise.
Is it the Commonwealth games that's causing accommodation issues?

I was with GCRM but also had scans/bloods roughly every other day from around day 7-10 I think. Don't think I had more than 2 days of scans.

Have you tried looking a bit outside Glasgow?

Hello 👋🏼 we are soon to start treatment at GRI. Are you there or GCRM? I'm Glasgow native so could advise some places to look at staying.

I’m not sure if it is the commonwealth. I am due to need frequent scans week of 17th august. I can’t claim anything back from my own health board either apparently. I think might just have to get cheap bus up and down as needed. Maybe try and just book somewhere from the weds onwards

In my exprience scans are always in the morning, to allow time for consultants to then discuss and give you a call in the afternoon with next steps. Worth considering if you can reasonably get down for the morning each time.

Theres quite a few options on air BNB, including some more student-style dorms if you want to keep the price lower
