Did IVF work for you?

DH and I are starting IVF soon after nearly 2 years TTC. One early loss a year ago. Unexplained infertility and everything looks good (annoyingly). I am 31 and DH is 34.

If you were in a similar situation, how many transfers did it take to be success for you? Just trying to be realistic but also hopeful.

@2mumlifethanks so much. Honestly, I’m over doing everything as I have been and it hasn’t made a difference. I’m just getting on with it. I’m not sure whether to work after transfer or not though. My job is very intense so I’m not sure what would be better

I would skip it if you can. If this transfer doesn’t work (hopefully it will) then you’ll kick yourself and search for clues of what went wrong and might beat yourself up over it (even though it’s probably random luck).

I got on with life after transfers but took things fairly easy as that’s what I felt comfortable with (apparently there’s some research that just resting isn’t the best as movement helps blood flow).

Some people go for runs etc and it’s fine but I’d have worried myself over it so much that I wouldn’t have felt the benefit! Trust your instincts what’s right for you.

I would also say plan to be off after your transfer for the same reason @needsomehopessays. At least the first few days

Also every clinic is different re post transfer advice, and to be fair mine is quite conservative, but they say the 24 hours post transfer is the most important and to put your feet up and watch Netflix for this time. Not bed rest but just resting. I spent two days slouching around then started to feel like I was going a bit mad and got out and about (still skipped my workouts for the TWW)

@SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite@Strawberrryfieldsthanks. I’ll at least take a few days off but longer if needed!

Update: we had our NHS fertility clinic appointment today where they officially referred us to our clinic. We selected it based on our previous research and had our bloods taken. Very exciting!

Then went straight to get my nails done and on the little piece of material where my nail tech dabbed away the colours she was using for my nails, an unexpected and accidental pineapple formed! I’m going to take that as a good sign 🥰
