IVF July 26 - egg collections

Hey, just wondered if anyone was planning a fresh cycle in July? I’ve seen the July transfers thread but appears most people are having FET and not retrievals. It would be lovely to have some people at similar stage to me who just get the highs and lows of it all!

I’ve been down regulating with buserelin most of June and had my scan today and given the go ahead to start my stims tonight! I was a bit shocked as last time it was several days wait to start after my scan but here we are! Egg collection provisionally booked for 6th July 😱 and hopefully fresh transfer 🤞🏼

I had a pretty terrible round back in March with nothing to freeze and only a poor grade embryo put Back Which would have been too poor to even freeze so no surprise it was a BFN so hoping after a few changes to protocol and supplements this one goes a bit better 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I have a DS from a successful round back in 2022, and had 3 FET all last year from the same batch all unsuccessful, but for some reason I just can’t give up on the wish of a sibling for him and our little family.

xx

Oh @Miraclemuma03 that sounds so frustrating, I bet u just want to get started now. Our bodies can be so annoying at times!

I’m home at resting up now post egg collection this morning, we only got 2 eggs but it’s still 2 chances and I am at peace with it as was expecting only 2/3 eggs anyway. Hopefully they both fertilise 🤞🏼🤞🏼 will find out tomorrow morning. So will be starting progesterone and inhixia this evening in preparation for a fresh transfer at some point this week I hope!

@Notaflatwhite hope your collection went well today and you are getting some much needed rest and relaxation xx

So perhaps a silly question but how long have people been on medication prior to a FET. I’m trying to game out when I could expect too really be in the window to transfer but I’m finding myself surprised by how much longer this appears to be taking then prep for ER.

sunflower1906 · 07/07/2026 11:02

Hi @PearOpal i guess it depends on if you are doing a medicated cycle, if you are down regulating prior or going for a more natural approach. It would be very difficult to say without know more about yr protocol xx

Just thought I would also share that both eggs fertilised normally!! It was an anxious wait for that call honestly but feels like such a win today 🎉🎉 so transfer is booked for Friday afternoon and likely put both back in as long as they r still developing normally xx

@sunflower1906 that is amazing news!! So pleased to hear they've both fertilised and you should be having the transfer on Friday, that's so exciting. If they transfer both will you be hoping for twins?

Sorry I've not updated sooner, I had really bad bloating and didn't feel too well on Sunday evening. Turns out they collected 19 eggs on Monday morning!! Which although it's great news they are now concerned I'm suffering from OHSS so we might not be able to do a fresh transfer if the symptoms continue. I'm also abit concerned about the egg quality as there was only 16 follicles at the beginning and they said I'd be lucky to get 9 when they scanned me on Friday so it was quite a shock to hear they retrieved 19, I didn't even know that was possible x

sunflower1906 · 07/07/2026 14:40

@Notaflatwhite im so sorry to hear how unwell you have been OHSS is one of the most painful things ever (I had severe OHSS with my successful fresh transfer in 2022) so I can completely understand the pain you are probably feeling right now and the possible disappointment of not having a fresh transfer. Staying hydrated is so important right now so plenty of electrolyte drinks and coconut water also, high protein diet can l
also help too.

19 eggs is amazing though! It’s pretty incredible what they can find in there, I hope you also got good fertilisation too 🤞🏼 tbh everyone says quality over quantity but I think that more to make us feel a bit better when we only have so few eggs to work with 😂 I’m sure from that you will get many good quality embryos and hopefully your long awaited baby too 🤞🏼

I think with my age (39) the chance that they r both genetically normal is so low that twins would be highly unlikely, which is why I am open to the double transfer. Plus with my last round we only managed one poor quality blast and an early blast which they later discarded so for me I’d rather have both transferred just to give it the chance if that makes sense, they do say better in than out 😂😂

Notaflatwhite · 07/07/2026 15:49

@sunflower1906 thankyou 🫶 Did you get the symptoms before your transfer or after? I'm desperate to go ahead with the fresh transfer on Saturday so will be drinking all the water I can 😅 I'll send hubby out for some coconut water too! The clinic called to say 15 have fertilised so I am feeling very grateful. Although I'm guessing there will be a big decline in embryos that make it to Saturday, the clinic said they'll give another update tomorrow.

You just never know though which embryos will stick. 39 really isn't that old when you read about ladies in their 40s having success. Will they tell you the quality of the embryos before they transfer them? Yeah I would do the same, atleast with having them transferred you're doing everything possible to give them a chance. Will they give you an update again during the week or are you just planning for the friday transfer? Hope the little embies keep growing 🥰 x

sunflower1906 · 07/07/2026 18:32

@Notaflatwhite i was deffo rather bloated but by transfer day I was feeling normal again, I distinctly remember at 5dpt I was crying cause I didn’t think anything was happening then at 7dpt I was in excruciating pain all over my abdomen and it was so distended, even hitting a bump in the road was agony and I could barely walk, the clinic then confirmed OHSS and that I was indeed pregnant which had caused my symptoms - I had several litres of fluid in my tummy and ovaries swelled to 10cm each - I ended up having 3 months off work, could barely walk and had to sleep sitting up for several weeks as the fluids made it difficult to breathe lying down - I would not recommend it at all. I wasn’t even considered high risk as they only collected 12 eggs 🙈

amazing about having 15 fertilised as I know u were worried about that part too and great u also get a day 3 update - hopefully will give u an indication of how things are going but it’s all so variable some ppl get 20 eggs and only 1 embryo and others end up with 10 blasts 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ your at a great advantage though! No more updates for me until lunchtime Friday when we will find out how they r progressing xx

i hope you start feeling more comfortable soon! I’m still so bloated today and only got 2 eggs 😂😂 hopefully it will all settle in the next day or so 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Notaflatwhite · 07/07/2026 21:12

Omg that sounds horrendous, I had no idea it could be that bad 😳 I'm sorry you went through such a hard time with it, thats not the start you want to your pregnancy.

Ahh exactly you just can't predict anything and I don't think you can relax until your get that positive test, and I probably won't even relax then haha

Yeah fingers crossed the bloating should start to ease over the next couple of days, then it will be transfer day and then pregnancy symptom spotting 🫠😂 xx

sunflower1906 · 07/07/2026 21:41

Yes it was awful and so scary, it was deffo not a normal first trimester that’s for sure. Thankfully all that pain was worth it in the end 🥰

you literally can’t tell how things will go, it can be so scary losing that control it’s a hard process that’s for sure!

aw I know I’m pretty sure I also make symptoms up in my head too and convince myself I’m feeling things I’m not it’s a total head f**k 😩 although I am really going to try control my anxiety this time as last transfer it was horrendous. From being around here a while symptoms or lack of really mean nothing at all until you test - I’ve never tested early but I am tempted this time … or to at least test out my trigger 😂 we shall see 😂

OP posts:
Notaflatwhite · 08/07/2026 17:58

@sunflower1906 how are you getting on today? Is the bloating starting to ease up? Keep an eye out for any OHSS symptoms as I know you didn't get loads of eggs but after your experience last time, you should keep a close eye on it.

I'm feeling a lot better today so I'm hoping I'm past the worst of it and everything will be okay for Saturday. The clinic called to say that the embryos are dividing as they should be but they'll give me a proper update on Saturday as its too soon to predict which ones will be good enough to freeze at this stage.

My biggest struggle at the moment is work, I haven't been able to concentrate the past couple of days and I'm worried I'm slacking off but I don't want to tell them we're doing IVF as they won't be supportive xx

sunflower1906 · 09/07/2026 14:24

@Notaflatwhite glad to hear you are feeling a lot better, hopefully you will still be able to have your fresh transfer 🤞🏼 sounds great that all your embryos are doing what they should be and hopefully you will have some great quality ones there to freeze too!

sorry to hear you are having work struggles, hats off to you working through all this I honestly couldn’t do it! How do u know they won’t be supportive? It’s a shame you are not getting any support from them as it’s such a stressful time as it is. I am very fortunate that my work place has an infertility treatment policy so I’ve been off the last 2 weeks on ‘special leave’ will go back next Thursday. Sometimes you don’t know these things exist until you dig a bit deeper so it might be worth looking into xx

Good luck ladies for your egg retrievals and transfers. Looks like il be moving to an august group. My period ended up being 10 days late so the clinic have decided to start me on the pill for 12 days so no egg retrieval for me this month.

sunflower1906 · 10/07/2026 21:41

@Miraclemuma03 wishing you all the best for your next cycle and thank you for your kind words 😘

embryo transfer complete, only one onboard as the other didn’t make it so this is our only chance, taking comfort and hope in the fact that it’s a good quality morula and that’s it’s developing well - praying for speedy 2 weeks until OTD 🤞🏼

@Notaflatwhite best of luck for tomorrow hope you have lovely little embryo to transfer and many more to freeze 🤞🏼🤞🏼

OP posts:
Notaflatwhite · 11/07/2026 11:33

@sunflower1906 so pleased to hear your transfer went well yesterday. One is all you need and its good quality so fingers crossed for you 😊
What is your OTD? And will you be testing earlier? My transfer went smoothly this morning and we have 7 being frozen which I'm very grateful for.
Do you have anything planned to keep you busy between now and test day?

@Miraclemuma03 good luck for next month hope all goes well for you x

sunflower1906 · 11/07/2026 18:01

@Notaflatwhite thats amazing news! 7 is a fantastic number you must be so relieved! glad ur transfer went smoothly 😌 way easier than the collection that’s for sure! My OTD is ages away not till the 24th July 😱 currently testing out my trigger 😂 today was very much positive still 😂 will prob test Monday and weds to make sure it’s gone and that will be all my tests gone too, my OTD is a work day so I don’t fancy doing it then so thinking maybe the 22nd? I can’t bear taking the meds if it’s negative it’s just soul destroying. How about you? When is yr OTD and are u planning to test early?

oh gosh just life in general is plenty to keep me occupied, trying not to think about it if im honest. We are off to the zoo tomorrow though which will be lovely 🤗 how about you? Any exciting plans?

xx

OP posts:
Notaflatwhite · 12/07/2026 08:39

@sunflower1906 its interesting how clinics differ - my OTD is the 21st. Yours really is a full tww! Testing out your trigger is a good shout, I was debating it but I don't think I can deal with seeing the positive tests fading even though I know thats what should be happening 🤣 I'm the same as you, I don't want to test on a work day so I'm going to test next Sunday with a first response 🤞
Oh lovely, hope you all enjoy the zoo. I'm only doing half days at work next week so I'll plan some activities for me and DD which will be nice 😊
Did you get any early symptoms with your last pregnancy? Mine was so long ago I can't remember 😂 x

sunflower1906 · 13/07/2026 15:18

@Notaflatwhite oh how lovely that will be nice to spend some quality time together, how old is DD? Zoo was lovely and a nice distraction but I’ve had strong ish cramps since yesterday and now today my lower back is killing me - chat gpt says it’s all normal but it’s still just so worrying and makes me wonder how can anything happen in there with all this pain?!

I didn’t have any symptoms last time till the OHSS reared its ugly head and that kinda took over anything else I might have felt and I’ve had cramps with my other failed transfers but not till later on I don’t think god why can’t I remember these things??!! 😂😂

trigger is gone for me so no more testing now 😂 it would of-course be negative at this point 3DP4DT so not feeling any kinda way about it xx

OP posts:
Notaflatwhite · 15/07/2026 16:08

@sunflower1906 We decided to book a last minute staycation on Monday which has been such a welcome distraction. DD is 9 so she's quite chilled on holidays now which is nice, she most looking forward to an afternoon tea I've booked for us 😂

How are the cramps now? Are you taking progesterone as that can cause cramping. Hopefully its a good sign and implantation is happening 🙏I'm getting mild cramps occasionally but nothing too bad.

I was so chill about not testing until Sunday and then all of a sudden today I've got the urge to just do one and I'm not sure I'll be able to hold off, even though I know I really should 🤣

sunflower1906 · 18/07/2026 13:37

@Notaflatwhite i hope you enjoyed your staycation! Sounds like a lovely welcome distraction. Hope it managed to do the trick 🤞🏼 I’ve been at work the last 2 days so for once It was a welcome distraction 😂

after that really bad day it’s not been too bad since just the bloating is next level I’m so bloody uncomfortable and none of my clothes fit well atm - thanks progesterone! I am on 3 cyclogest a day and 1 lubion so a fair bit as on bloods I’ve always struggled to absorb it. I have been on more than that though for some previous transfers and I can’t remember if it was this bad or not 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

have you managed to hold off with the testing? I just want to make sure I’ve waited until it’s pretty definitive if it is negative so I can stop the meds as they are making me feel so rubbish 😥 so at least 10/11 DPT …. Nearly there now!

OP posts:
Notaflatwhite · 20/07/2026 14:57

@sunflower1906 it was a lovely distraction! It was so needed I don't think I would have got any work done if I'd been working all week as usual 😅

That is a lot of progesterone! Maybe you are absorbing it better this time so you're feeling the side effects more. Hopefully its a sign the embryo has implanted 🤞

I've tested today with an early detection test and it was completely negative! My OTD is tomorrow so I'll ring my clinic then to let them know. I've stopped taking the meds today as I don't want it to delay my period any longer than need be. Hoping it won't be too much of a wait before I can go for a FET.

Good luck for your test, not too long to go now

sunflower1906 · 20/07/2026 15:27

@Notaflatwhite im so sorry to hear about your negative test this process is all just so brutal and soul destroying. I hope you can take comfort in having a good number of embryos frozen and I really hope one of those will be your future longed for baby ❤️

not tested yet but been having bad cramps since last night and I know myself it’s not worked I can just feel it so like u I just want to stop the meds and take some ibuprofen for these cramps … most likely will test tomorrow now so I can stop and process everything …. Not sure what our future looks like atm 😥😥

OP posts:
sunflower1906 · 21/07/2026 13:24

So in a shock turn of events my test was positive this morning!! I am completely dumbfounded and in complete shock, was not expecting this at all! I was convinced it’s had failed.

so for now will just be taking it one day at a time and will prob test again tomorrow because I don’t quite believe it.

@Notaflatwhite i hope you are doing ok, I have been there so many times with the negative tests and it never gets easier xx

OP posts:
Notaflatwhite · 21/07/2026 14:26

@sunflower1906 aww I was thinking about this morning, that is amazing news! Sooo happy for you, congratulations 💐 what will be the next steps with clinic, will you get a blood test or just wait for the scan?

Im doing okay and thankyou for the kind words. I am very grateful we have other embryos so we'll be positive going into the next transfer. The worst thing is just the whole waiting game again, it just feels like our life has been on hold for 5 years.

I had a blood test today so I'm now just waiting for next steps from the clinic.

Keep me updated with your progress, its so nice to hear of a positive result to help remain hopeful! X
