Hi all,

we have reached the top of the waiting list and been invited back to the clinic to discuss our protocol with a medic then a nurse immediately afterwards. There wasn’t much information about what to expect, can anyone advise what this appointment may consist of?

thank you for any information, my mind is in overdrive wandering what to expect!

A wee bump. If anyone could offer any advice at all I’d be so grateful?

So have you had your consult, done all your bloods and scans and what not? If those are all done then you will talk about results and the medications you will be starting, you should get a start date and all Information going forward. Though every clinic is different and it depends on the steps you have already done up until this point.

Hi, I had my first IVF appointment last week. They talked through the whole process and what each step involved and what would be needed from us at each stage, explained the protocol in the context of my medical history and what we might expect in terms of outcomes, discussed IVF vs ICSI. They also did a scan for antral follicle count and scheduled some blood tests for virology screening.

I haven't had my nurse appointment yet but my understanding is that's where they explain the medications and how you do the injections etc.

Hi both,
thank you so much for responding!
Yes, we have had our scans, blood tests and semen tests. We have had an appointment to discuss the outcomes and were then referred to the IVF waitlist. I have since had a pre-procedure appointment to discuss sedation for egg collection. We now have these two appointments in July and I just wondered if this would be where we started medication prior to egg collection? We have a zoom session on Monday so I will make sure to ask lots of questions but I had expected a little more information regarding what to expect when we received our appointments.
We live very rurally so have a 3 hour drive each way to the hospital so I also wondered from a work perspective how to plan for time off etc. If this is about getting medications then will egg collection be relatively soon after? My understanding is that my egg supply is lower than expected for my age so I have been working hard to try increase quality by adjusting my diet and cutting out alcohol/ reducing caffeine etc. I have so many thoughts and questions but trying my best not to get overwhelmed and stay as calm as possible - not so easy!
Thank you again for replying, it’s helpful to hear other experiences xx
