Process for Tests

Does anyone have a usual process for tests and results with an NHS fertility clinic? I’ve not had a great experience so far. I’ve recently been for day 2-4 bloods and was told I won’t get the results until after my scan in 6 weeks. They will know my results and base the choice of scan off those results but won’t tell me them prior to the scan. Is this usual- it seems strange to withhold information and not give me a choice if I want the scan after the results.

I was told they don’t give them out as ‘you couldn’t possibly interpret them’ so you will need to wait for the consultant to see you in 6 weeks. I was told I’d have my scan this cycle but apparently the bloods take 2 weeks (which I’m doubtful of) so there’s no time to do this this cycle. I’m hoping to see other people’s experiences to see if I’m just expecting too much. The bedside manner and communication in general hasn’t been great so there’s also a bit of friction there!

I would keep pushing for the results. I’ve just had bloods done with nhs fertility clinic and could see all results (the hospital has an app for your results/letters and they just appeared on there). I’m also a Dr (elsewhere in the nhs), and can’t see a reason you shouldn’t have access to them for that long. Try your GP, they may have also gone through to them

They don’t have an app…I wonder if they might go through to my GP and then I’ll see them on the NHS app? I understand them not wanting to give results over the phone but it feels as though they taking informed choice/autonomy away!

If I’m not wrong a lot of the fertility clinics use an online system called ice. If your doctors also use the eye system they can print these off for you at a request rather than going through the IVF clinic. If the doctors don’t use ice then it becomes a bit of an issue. If you’re really desperate for the results you can put in a subject Access request at your GP or with the fertility clinic and they need to give you your results as they are yours
