How long do mock egg transfers take and did you take time off work?

I had a failed fresh transfer early March and have had my follow up appointment in which the consultant has scheduled a mock transfer for monday.. If this is unsucessful I will need a hysteroscopy. During my unsuccessful transfer I was in alot of pain and they were unable to get the catheter in to place the embryo. This is due to a tight cervix and anatomical 'kink'. So I am worried about the mock procedure and dont know what to tell work. Do you think this will be an 'in and out' appointment where I can return to work or will I need the day off to recover?

I don't think you'll need the day off to recover. I had a biopsy last week which was fairly unpleasant but I was fine immediately afterwards.

Did they discuss whether they’d try treat the cervix that day if the opening was too narrow? I had stenosis due to lletz, and had a mock transfer (mine was called mid cycle cathetar test) that couldn’t fit through and a subsequent operation (under sedation) where they widened the opening. I can’t remember if they were the same day, but I was a little grumpy and wanted to rest after the dilation operation/sedation.

This should be just a mock transfer. The consultant said they may need to do a hysteroscopy if it doesnt work, but I believe this would be scheduled another time.

If they’re just checking it then probably you’d be fine to go back to work after, i mean even with dilation operation I could have worked but was in a little pain and grumpy/sleepy and wanted to give myself a cuddle.

i say that though, and I have met women on here that had similar issues who found transfer itself very painful. To be fair, mine never got the chance to be painful because it simply didn’t fit through. Since you already know that transfer was painful, maybe base it off how you were feeling that time. If in doubt, be kind to yourself.
