The viability scan wait

I just wondered if anyone was in the wait or recently been in the wait for a viability scan. I’m 6 weeks and my scan is at 8 weeks and this is the furthest we have ever gotten in IVF so it’s a bit of uncharted territory.

I just wondered what people are doing to keep themselves sane? What to expect at the scan? Is it internal or external? Do/have people got symptoms at this point? Any info would be great really.

thank you

I'm not doing this currently but had ICSI 2022 which was successful resulting in the birth of our son. I remember I did quite frequently do more pregnancy tests just to make myself believe it. The utter relief, joy and love I felt when we first saw the heartbeat was astounding. It was an ultrasound. I did a lot of yoga, acupuncture, walking and reading to keep myself busy. I'm sorry I can't remember my symptoms then. Take care xx

I had my scan at exactly 7 weeks - no symptoms except ones from the progesterone pessaries (I know it was them as those symptoms stopped just after taking them)

they gave me another scan at 8+4 and by then had a few symptoms but very mild.

what to expect?
It was an internal scan
I couldn’t see the screen initially- she faced it towards herself
She said I may be quiet initially but I just need to check I’m seeing the right thing
she actually ended up saying “I see a heartbeat” pretty much immediately which was good.
Once she’d seen the heartbeat she turned the screen so we could see
She printed some pics at the end

Let me know if you want to ask anything else xx

@wishinghard2 If you don’t want to wait til 8 weeks you could go ahead and get a private scan already at this stage you should see that all is going ok, heartbeat etc.. it’s still very early but there’s no real need to wait till 8 weeks if you don’t want to

Congratulations on getting a bfp and getting through the fertility treatment. For me by about 6+4 to 7 weeks I get major all day sickness, alot of times present with HG which can feel like torture. Our clinic do the scans at 7 weeks and sometimes you can measure a little behind or a little ahead but a couple days either side is normal and you can usually see the little flicker.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to thank you all for your messages. I had taken myself offline for a while because it was too easy getting into word holes reading so many different things but I’m pleased to say I had my scan today at 7+5 and everything was well so we are over the moon and waiting referral to ÉPU

thank you for taking the time to message
