IVF Anxiety

Hi everyone,
need some advice, slapping or a large drink…I’m not sure which?!?

I’m less than 2 weeks away from an embryo transfer for my 4th round of IVF (the 3rd resulted in my son).
I’ve tried SO hard to be good with eating, drinking plenty but feel like I come up against it with my anxiety. Was so worried my whole pregnancy with my son…

Today I’ve gone for lunch with my Mum and son (in my mums home) and I could smell something really strong. Turns out she had cleaned her house with neat dettol. The smell was overwhelming and I was there nearly 2 hours.

Have I jeopardised my next transfer? I’ve read so much about endocrine disruptions and I’ve worked hard not to put anything disruptive on or in my body….

Does anyone have any advice?
I have also been using an antibacterial spray (diluted) and am now fretting this has harmed me too. Please advise

TIA 🙏

Meaning this in the nicest way(!) but don’t be ridiculous! Of course you haven’t!

@PlanBFertility26 lol i second this.

So many woman just go absolutely overboard and over the top for ivf and pregnancy. If an embryo and pregnancy is going to work, there is nothing within reason that is going to stop essentially a parasite from Growing and taking over As harsh as that sounds. Your going to be ok. Try to calm down and just be excited for potentially another life coming into your world and enjoy yourself. Stressing over all the minor stuff is worse then worrying about what someone used to clean their house. Hospitals use strong disinfectants and pregnant woman and babies go there all the time. Everything is going to be alright.

Yes, me too. But I totally understand the obsession with anything and everything. IVF is all consuming, so go easy on yourself! Like the others have said, if the embryo’s a goer, there’s v little you can do to stop it in its tracks. Fingers crossed the transfer goes well an it’s a perfect little embryo! x

No you have not of course you haven’t . It’s easy to try and blame ourselves for everything when we are going through something like this. But it’s completely outside your control what happens

Smelling strong Dettol or using diluted antibacterial spray for a short time does not affect embryo transfer or fertility. The real concern with chemicals is long-term, heavy exposurenot brief household use.
What you’re feeling is anxiety, not actual harm. Try to stay calm, avoid strong smells going forward, and focus on rest + hydration.
