Very slow growing follicles

I’ve done 4 days of stims and out of 10 follicles on the baseline scan, only 3 looked like they may respond however they have only grown approx 1mm in the 4 days. From what I’ve read they should be growing by at least that each day.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? I’m on meriofert 225iu and consultant has said to continue on this and have another scan on Monday.

Would love to hear from anyone who has had similar and managed to get eggs!

What were the overall measurements of your follicles if you know? Usually in the first couple of days it seems like there isnt much change but usually by day 8 and by day 10 there are bigger differences. Hopefully by monday there is a big difference.

So the biggest ones on day 2 were between 5 and 6.4mm, the biggest one has only got up to 7.6mm on day 7 (after 4 days of stims). Looking back at previous ones they have been up near 10mm at this time. Hopefully after the weekend I’ll see some better growth 🤞🏾

Was there any talk about increasing your meds at all if by monday there hasnt been significant growth?

I would ask them to increase your Meriofert, I was on the max dose 75x5iu) only 1 overy responded with only 1 follicle though! But I’ve tested today and I’m positive!

I had this. I started at 300iu on Meriofert (I have low AMH). I had a scan on Day 6 of stims and only had 2 follicles on track (1 = 12mm, 1= 11mm). The rest (3) were between 8-10mm and another 3 were under 8mm. They boosted my meds to 375iu, so by my day 9 scan I had 5 follicles at 15mm, 2 at 14mm, 1 at 13mm, and 1 at 12mm. There were also another three that hadn’t yet caught up and were still between 8-10mm. By day 11 I had 7 at 18mm and above. By the time they retrieved them, they managed to get 12 eggs.

Sometimes your body you takes a little longer to get going! Best of luck 🤞🏼

Just had a scan and bloods and my follicles haven’t really grown from 4 days of stims to 7 days of stims. He’s saying to increase to 300iu for the next 3 days then scan and bloods again but may have to cancel. I’m on my 9th round in total and never had this where they just aren’t growing xx

I’m sorry to hear this 😢 IVF can be such a crap journey at times. Hopefully the increase in meds help, as it definitely helped me. Wish you the best of luck 🤞🏼

So now on day 10 of stims and one is now responding and gone to 11mm, with 3-4 approx 5-7mm and the rest around 3mm.

consultant has given me 2 options:
continue stimulating but risk only getting one egg of the others don’t grow., but also potentially doing duostim to try and grow the remaining ones after egg collection. Or option 2 is cancel the cycle!

not sure whether I’m wasting more medication and money continuing or if it’s more of a waste not following through 🤷🏾‍♀️

Thats a tricky situation. What did your fs say was possibly the better option? I wouldn't know what to do in this situation. Im sorry your faces with this.

Mt consultant didn’t come back to me so I did my medication last night and will wait to hear back. Me and DH are thinking to continue because what if we get one egg and it’s the one! So bloody hard!

Why don’t you keep stimming to see if you get the 3-4 smaller ones and sacrifice the one larger one? You can definitely do this as my doctor once recommended this

@Wishstar24he has said if we continue then a scan and bloods tomorrow so I think it’s worth now just doing the meds tonight, see what the scan shows and I’m even leaning on if just the one Leo’s showing progression then continue. All my eggs that are collected are usually mature and it could be that one lucky egg! And if the others start growing too then bonus. I’m in too deep I think already with what have spent on meds and scans and bloods! Literally trying to book scans and blood tests with as day results is so expensive!

I think give it ago. I am suppose to be triggering on monday but after Fridays scan, I dont think im going to be ready. I had one leading follicle at around 17mm , 2 follicles maybe around 10mm and the rest were small. If they dont catch up id say I will only have 3 eggs on collection as I need icsi so cant use any eggs that arnt mature enough. So we will see also.

@Miraclemuma03 have they possibly discussed duostim with you? Our consultant briefly mentioned that if one lead but a cluster of a few smaller they may thing about collecting the one the going back to stimulation to push those other ones on. I’m not sure what the criteria is for it but could be worth asking. How much will they let that lead follicle grow?

I dont think our clinic offer this. But it was mentioned i can stim until wednesday , I cant stim longer other wise il start getting into their Easter holiday where they are away and the clinic is closed so its possible if I cant trigger by wednesday then the cycle is cancelled . My clinic also only do collections on certain days but think they do transfers everyday so I just need those eggs hahah

Scan showed the one follicle has jumped to 17mm after 3 days, the rest are 6mm and smaller. So if we are lucky we will get one mature egg from this

What is your plan moving forward. That 17mm still has a big of growing to do. I have my second scan and bloods first thing in the morning.

@Miraclemuma03consultant got in touch and wanted me to trigger last night (I am doing ivf abroad and had asked for a prescription the other week but he said it would be fine and we’d sort it out and do the trigger in Athens)…so I had no trigger. To be honest I was that mad with them and their terrible communication and service that I told him I’m stopping meds and cancelling the cycle. I think I hit the point of stress that I’ve never had with IVF and I didn’t want to tip myself too far. So waiting for my period in the next couple of weeks. Have told them all my thoughts and we are arranging a thorough consultation next week as it’s been a bit of a shit show in general for my last 3 cycles with them.

Omg that is horrible. Im so sorry you had to cancel your cycle, how stressful especially after everything you went through.

@Miraclemuma03@lhun3i’m okay with our decision, to be honest I feel a bit relieved that I don’t have to carry more stress. I have rationalised and looked at it that it would be just like a normal month where one follicle grows and gets wasted (forgetting the expense !) and as annoyed as I am with the clinic me and hubby weighed up everything and just decided it was best to stop and have a month off then go again once we feel fully confident with the clinic and consultant. The only person they loses out by me carrying the annoyance is me so thankfully I have a week off and going to have a couple of days away with hubby

Thats so good you have come to terms with your decision and its very sensible to do what your doing. I think some time away with your partner sounds amazing and definitely let loose and enjoy yourself.

Yes @MammaKGi have just had egg collection and only 1 egg for fertilisation, it was put back in at day 3 and it’s worked!! BFP! So I would definitely keep hope even if only 1 egg ☺️
