IVF egg retrieval pain

Firtly I browse a lot on MN but don't often post.

I'm currently going through my 3rd round of IVF at the age of 43. I currently have a 4 year old through IVF already and he is the best little human in my life.

I then went through IVF in September 2025 but that didn't work out.

I've just going through the process again and have just had my egg retrieval a few days ago and have been in absolute agony. I didn't have this with the previous rounds so all a bit new. I'm on cyclogest but the adomen pain is unreal. I have had bowel movements and it's improving a little but I can hardly move, can't bend over, sleeping in uncomfortable and just can't bear it

Is this normal? I'm take paracetamol as often as I can but it's not really touching her sides.

Any advice please?

FWIW, I had IVF twice and didn't have anything like what you're describing. Hope you feel better soon

I think you need to call your clinic and get checked out- this doesn’t sound like normal discomfort levels after egg collection. Hope you’re ok.

Could you have OHSS?

It's not normal. Call your IVF clinic they should have an out of hours number or go to A&E.

I've had IVF and didn't have the amount of pain your describing.
if anything just a slight cramp.

How are you feeling @Rani123 I had a burst ovarian cyst at 12 weeks following IVF which was horrendous pain. Felt like I was being stabbed. Definitely get to A&E if you continue to feel unwell x
