FET - natural or medicated?

We are lucky to have a couple of embryos in the freezer so after a failed fresh transfer last month, we are going to try frozen next month. The clinic have said it’s up to me whether to go with natural or medicated and that there isn’t much evidence that one is much more successful than the other.

I’m just looking for others experience who have done one or the other - or even better, both. How did you find it either way?

I’m going to track ovulation again this month as a starting point.

Hello,

I’ve previously undergone a medicated FET and just completed an unmedicated FET. If you’re advised no difference either way I would strongly advocate for natural. Night and day difference - no messy pessaries, injections, hyper focus on process. You just go about your business, pee on a stick and then go in a few days later for the FET.

I’m currently pregnant on the fully unmedicated FET. Had two other live pregnancies from medicated FET.

Natural modified is preferable to medicated on grounds of lower risk of preeclampsia and slightly lower risk of loss.

I've had both medicated and natural modified. Preferred medicated as more predictable as I was having treatment abroad. As it happens the only successful transfer I've had has been medicated.

Thank you all for your replies.

I could definitely do without the heaps of meds I went through with the fresh transfer - although I know it’s different meds… but I wonder if the waiting/not knowing dates etc will stress me out a bit.

As it stands I have a 5AA and a 4BB frozen so if the next one doesn’t work we will likely try the opposing method to the natural/medicated one we try this time, for the following cycle - just unsure of which order to do it.

if you do natural and it fails, can you go again the following month or do you still need a month break??

@TTCbaby2xox - re natural and next period it will likely depend on clinic scheduling as I know mine like to schedule 6 weeks in advance but no physical reason why not.

I guess my only counsel would be you’ve probably been at this years - another month wait won’t be the end of the world.

On scheduling natural is faster as you won’t need a down reg and meds. They still need to scan and check for ovulation if you’re medicated or not so that’s not different.

Best wishes whatever you choose.
