Hello, I'm hoping and looking for some advice and a some solidarity. My partner and I have been trying to conceive for 18 months now with an early miscarriage in October last year. I'm 37 and I've just found out I don't qualify for NHS funded IVF as my FSH is too high. So we are putting wheels in motion for private IVF at Kingston ACU as I like my experiences there so far and its nearby.

I'm feeling so many emotions - I feel scared, regretful we didn't start sooner, hopeful (if I managed to get pregnant once I can do it again!), and so so lonely. Has anyone had any experiences of IVF at Kingston? Or having IVF at my age with suboptimal FSH?

x

@SBEEZI frustrating the NHS won't help. How high is your FSH and what is your AMH?

SBEEZI · 03/03/2026 16:41

My FSH is 14, but my AMH is good at 20.5 and AFC 19. So they have acknowledged it is discordant but the ICB base funding on FSH (need to be less than 11.9). I do feel let down but equally understand the need for a cut off.

@SBEEZI might be worth appealing that decision based on your AMH and AFC. Two out of three that indicate a robust ovarian response should be taken into account.

Yeh i would 100% appeal that. I was much lower on afc and amh and literally just scraped the fsh by .1 and can you believe i also had the same blood test private and by having the nhs bloods in the morning i qualified but would of missed the cut off if I had done afternoon like I did for the private test. I would just ask if you could re test the FSH , make sure u pick the best day and time in the cycle. Mine changed over the course of a few month (fluctuated) xx

They checked my FSH on 3 occasions (day 3 of cycle) and was 12-14 so I think it’s a consistent result. I am confused by my results and I think my fertility team are too. Not sure how it will affect my IVF outcome but hopefully I’ll find out more at my appt this week. How was your outcome with a suboptimal FSH?

I think if you have it checked on the 1st or 2nd day it usually comes in a bit lower but it was a while ago so I cant 100% remember. I had an afc average about 8 and my amh was 6.7 i think . During my ivf cycle I had 4 measurable follicles for retrivel but only managed to get 2 eggs. I was heart broken but both made it to blast on day 5 and currently 7 weeks pregnant. Sometimes with lower numbers the quality can be good. X
