FET - how to prepare

Hi all

Just looking for some advice on what I don’t know that I don’t know.

3 rounds of IVF so far and have had pgta testing each time - managed to get one euploid embryo so this is the furthest we have got! And the uncharted territory feels positive but also scary.

Any thoughts on what I should be doing in the lead up / during to the progesterone treatment pre -transfer… and indeed around the time of transfer / afterwards.

Consultant advised I had a hysteroscopy to help with implantation chances, so have gone ahead with that. Otherwise trying to minimise stress (!) then have read about making sure you keep your feet warm… and mcd’s fries 😂

any other tips or guidance very much appreciated. X

Congrats on the euploid embryo! Hysteroscopy is a good idea, if you're not already taking any, then some probiotics are a good idea. In terms of anything you can do to influence the outcome, there's eally not much, so just look after yourself, rest, eat well but don't stress too much over it (and get the fries!) If you fancy a wine or two, i say go for it- i didn't have a drop on my first transfer which didn't work, but had a couple of small wines during my TWW with my 2nd whcih did, overall I was a lot more relaxed and I think it helped me feel calmer

Good luck!

Thanks - it feels like quite all or nothing on the transfer as it’s taken so much for us to get just one embryo that’s ok to transfer. Argh. And glad to hear your 2nd worked.

What probiotics would you suggest if you don’t mind me asking? X

I had a fresh transfer last year and I

  • Drank Lucozade zero sugar to stay hydrated
  • Took proceive coneptjon
  • Took a short walk after transfer (advised by nurse)
  • Took a short walk every day for about a week after (plus am a teacher so am on feet at work)

this last one someone later said wasn’t advised but haven’t done any research so pls look into it first…

I also put medium heat hot water bottles on my lower stomach that evening and then all the time I was home for the next week or so (I was out at work all day didn’t take time off, so it was only late afternoon/evening)
would go to bed with hot water bottle too
(time of year was November)
