Pink spotting

I had pink spotting last night, it seems to have stopped and turned brown this morning but I am worried and confused as to why this is it anyone can help me? Yesterday I was a week past embryo transfer (transferred 2) and I’m on a lot of progesterone - lubion and cyclogest 3 x a day so I didn’t think I would get my period on all this medication? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Sandra00, I had spotting from 8dp5dt, the day before my official test day which was positive. My clinic put me on 2 x Lubion a day plus 2 x cyclogest, and retested my progesterone levels, and a few days later I went onto 1 prontogest plus the cyclogest, the max dose progesterone.

When I got to a viability scan at 6 weeks, it turned out I had a subchorionic haematoma, a little blood pocket basically, that was bleeding out. That lasted a few weeks including a small but alarming burst of red blood and stringy brown bits, I had another red bleed at 14 weeks for the same reason, but it was mostly brown/pale pink spotting with no pain or cramping. They're very common in IVF and I was told generally not a problem.

I'd suggest you speak to your clinic about checking your progesterone levels or if they can suggest anything else, Progesterone pessaries can also irritate the cervix and cause spotting, if you're using it that way rather than back passage!

Good luck, hope you get a good result on your test day

Yes you can still get a period or break through bleeding while your taking progesterone. But sometimes a bleed can occur due to implantation, irritable cervix, spotting from progesterone, or if there is a pregnancy then it could be from a haematoma. Try not to panic just yet and wait it out. What day is your offical test day?

@Orangewillow So helpful, and reassuring! Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post, I haven’t had any more bleeding so hopefully it’s fine. I’ll go into my clinic as suggested.

Thanks @Miraclemuma03 I can test this out weekend - officially Sunday but they said I can go in for bloods Saturday so fingers crossed!

With my first i had spotting at 9dp3dt I had a negative test the day before then positive on 11dp3dt
With my second i had a 5 day frozen transfer and had spotting from around 3dp5dt which turned into a heavy bleed with clots for around a week but got my positive at 8dp5dt. I have no idea why I had that bleed. As previous poster said could be numerous things but was never discovered. Both different experiences but both resulted in pregnancy.
wishing you lots of luck for your bfp xxx

For me the pink spotting was caused by the cyclogest - it reduced when I started not pushing them in so far. Stopped completely after not taking them.
they can irritate

Thanks @Renisenb
