First IVF round nervously waiting blastocyst news

I’m 33 and had my egg retrieval yesterday. We got 14 eggs, 10 of which were mature and 9 have fertilised.

I’m so nervous for how many might make it to day 5.

I’m not really educated on what makes for good odds so looking for positive stories.

Usual expectation is for 30-50% of fertilised eggs to reach blastocyst. Good luck!

I was also told 30-50% by my clinic, as a rough guide. Good luck, the waiting for updates is really tough so be kind to yourself! Hoping you get a great outcome

PP are correct with the stats, good luck @Charlierb. I had 8 fertilise and we got 4 blasts (I'm 35, no other obvious issues). I found the waiting for the embryos worse than the 2WW. Hope you're feeling ok post retrieval, take it easy and look after yourself :)

I found this stage of the whole process the worst. My last set of eggs were retrieved when I was 32. I had normal AMH but never respond well to fertility meds. That round we got 6 eggs, all mature, all fertilised and 3 were suitable to freeze on day 5. The remaining 3 they left until day 6 but decided none of the remainder looked good enough to freeze.

How did you get on @Charlierb ?

I had 4 that fertilised and 3 made it 🥰 currently in the TWW with last one x

We got 2 day 5 blastocyst both have gone to freeze as I was at high risk of OHSS. I was a little disheartened as I’d hoped for more but as my husband keeps reminding me it can only take one.

Thankfully we’ve done the Access 2 cycle with a 50% refund so are in a position to do 3 cycles if needed.

We got 2 blasts from our first cycle, aged 32. Our first blast is now is our soon to be 3yold son and the second we're going to transfer later this year. Don't be disheartened by low numbers OP. Good luck!

We got 2 blasts out of 17 eggs collected - 12 mature - 11 fertilised - so our attrition rate was super poor. One was day 5 and ended in miscarriage but the other was day 6 and I’m currently 6+4 pregnant 🤞🏼♥️ saw heartbeat on Monday, good luck!

@Charlierb Its great you got 2 at day 5. Quality over quantity :)
