Congrats @KayEmmSquared2! Amazing news! Did you know you were having a boy or was this a surprise? How are u feeling?

I have had 2 (unsuccessful) sweeps this week and have my proper induction on Saturday.

Strawberrryfields · 17/03/2026 20:21

Congratulations @KayEmmSquared2! Enjoy your beautiful boy ❤️

confused2025 · 17/03/2026 20:22

@lemons44good luck for Saturday x

KayEmmSquared2 · 18/03/2026 06:01

Thanks everyone 💙

no @lemons44 we kept the gender a surprise, hubby announced what it was when he came out!

I also had a couple of unsuccessful sweeps, then went in Thursday to get induced, balloon induction was inserted on the Thursday, didn’t do much so it was removed the Friday and I was started on Prostin gels, had three of those over the space of 24hours and dilated to 2cm and effaced to 3cm so I did a 24hour break on the Saturday and thankfully by the Sunday morning I was 2cm effaced so they added me to the labour ward list to break my waters and I went down for that on Sunday night at 10pm, Baby was here almost 24hours later. For me it was a long and painful journey so I’d say prepare yourself for the worst and anything other than that is a bonus, plus it was all 100% worth it for this little guy I’m currently cradling in my arms 😍

Aw @KayEmmSquared2 I’m sorry to hear that your induction was a bit of a mission! Do u mind me asking what happened after they broke your waters? Did u go home? and did contractions start slowly or did it get full on quite quickly?

I am looking at the Dilapan-S rod induction on Saturday which I think opens your cervix enough that they can break the waters.

I hope you are enjoying soaking up the newborn cuddles 💙

also hope everyone else is going well?

KayEmmSquared2 · 21/03/2026 08:09

@lemons44 good luck with your induction today! Won’t be long now until you’re holding your little bundle in your arms!

once they broke my waters I went straight onto a hormone drip and was under constant monitoring by the hospital. The drip was to help with contractions and they started within minutes of the drip being inserted!

if your waters go naturally (either 100% natural or assisted by the Dilapan) I believe they leave you up to 24hrs for contractions to start on their own and if they don’t you go onto the drip for assistance.

Good luck and let us know how it goes xx

Thanks @KayEmmSquared2

They couldn’t do the rods in the end my cervix wasn’t ready. Have been on propess pessary for 22 hours now and hoping to find out soon if my cervix is open enough for them to break my waters.

didnt realise how long the induction process can be 😴

confused2025 · 22/03/2026 16:30

@lemons44thinking of you. Induction isn’t fun. Hopefully things will move soon x

Strawberrryfields · 22/03/2026 19:20

Hope you can try and get some sleep while you’re waiting - you’ll need your energy once things get going! Hopefully things get moving soon 🤞

lemons44 · 22/03/2026 21:09

Thanks both. Pessary didn’t work so they’ve inserted the gel now.

KayEmmSquared2 · 23/03/2026 10:46

@lemons44 it is such a long process and then there’s wee 1/2hour delays here and there getting next doses and scans and things that the time drags on. I really struggled with the gels pain wise, I highly recommend taking the painkillers when they offer and asking when you need them!

@KayEmmSquared2the first gel didn’t work ☹️ just waiting for examination after the second gel. My cervix is being very stubborn and not dilating, softening or moving into position. They are running out of options really as I have already had the pessary, gels and they can’t fit the rods due to cervix position. So will know after my examination but it could end up we need a c section.
Hope you’re doing ok xx

confused2025 · 23/03/2026 18:11

@lemons44sending you ❤️. I dint think I’ve heard of anyone having an induction that doesn’t take an age. I was so scared of an emergency c section but it was honestly grand - easier than induction and 5 weeks later I’m feeling grand. Hope your bundle of joy arrives soon x

KayEmmSquared2 · 23/03/2026 18:50

@lemons44 it took me 3 gels before my cervix was ready, so keep positive! once your ready and they break your waters you can be another 24hours before baby is out, near the end of that 24hours (and depending on baby’s vitals) they might consider a c-section, we were very close to a c-section about 15hours after the waters were broken but by some miracle on their next check I dilated enough to continue with natural.

you’ve got this! ❤️
