When did you start taking progesterone after egg retrieval?

I was told to take it 6pm Friday and my transfer was around 12pm the following Wednesday. I’m just wondering if 4.5 days exposure for a 5 day transfer is enough? I am now a little worried I should have had 5 full days exposure.
It would be good to know what everyone else did. Thanks.

I had my ER on a Wednesday, started progesterone on the Thursday before fresh transfer on Monday so same. I was on 3x400mg cyclogest/day. Don't know the outcome yet! My consultant said we tend to massively over supplement progesterone just to be sure so hoping there will be plenty. The waiting is awful but lots of sticky vibes to you!

@shesellseashells3 Thank you that’s reassuring to know! What time was your transfer Monday? I guess I just freaked out did it need to be 5full days for a 5 day embryo but reassuring to know yours was 4.5 too. Like you said they probably give us more than enough!

It was 1:30pm on Monday, and I started the progesterone on Thursday morning so had taken 13 400mg doses by the time of transfer :)

how many eggs, and embryos did you get?

We got 17 mature eggs which I was super pleased with. 8 fertilized then down to 4 by day 3 which had me stressing, but they all made it to good quality blasts from there :) it's my first round so didn't know what to expect! Is this your first transfer?

Hi @shesellseashells3 @Sandra00 I was just wondering how you both got on with taking progesterone 4.5 days before your FETs? I’m in the same position just now and tempted to start my progesterone a day earlier than my clinic has said so I have 5 full days and a half day by the time of my transfer. Did either of you have success with 4.5 days on progesterone? I’m only on 2 Cyclogest pessaries. Thanks!

I had my levels tested before transfer and they were pretty high (160!). The transfer wasn’t successful but I don’t believe it was due to progesterone levels. I am considering asking my consultant if 3 a day is really necessary tbh, esp as for me that bit doesn’t seem to be an issue. Hope all goes well for you xx

Thanks for letting me know @shesellseashells3 I’m truly sorry your transfer wasn’t successful 😞 It really is a lottery isn’t it? I spend so much time thinking of all the possibilities as to why my last 3 transfers didn’t work - is it my TSH, my progesterone level, is my oestrogen too high, do I have NK cells that haven’t been tested for, am I not getting enough sleep, is my cortisol level high, am I eating the right things, am I hydrated enough, have I exercised enough or done too much? It drives me insane 😵‍💫 This is our last embryo so here’s hoping it’s the one 🙏 🌈 🍀 🤞🏼 Thanks for getting back to me and all the best with your next round.

@VioletHaze24 it is an absolute bastard. Same as you we're 3 transfers down and one more on ice before looking at another full retrieval etc. 😫clinging on to any remaining sanity for dear life!! I hope no. 4 works out for you. Hopefully it will be the lucky number for both of us!! 💫

It really is @shesellseashells3 I just had my progesterone level checked today (it’s in ng/ml as we’re doing our IVF in Spain) and it was 14.6 ng/ml which I believe is about 46 nmol/L 🧐 It’s in the right range (or so the internet says) and my clinic said it’s good. Doing a contractility scan this time round as well (didn’t do for transfers 1-3) and transferring on Thursday. Praying 🙏 🙏 this is one. No more rounds for us after this. It’s time to draw the line if needed and move on with our lives. Keep me posted how you get on with #4. I’ll keep everything crossed we both find 4 is the lucky number 🍀
