I’m a little older >35 and have gone through 2 IUI with no luck so now we start ivf soon. Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, under a lot of emotional pressure…Anyone else in the same boat?

I've got my first meeting on the 19th Feb, been TTC for about 3-4 years now, first time we're getting any treatment, so also shitting myself! When do you start?

We will be starting everything in about a week and I am also freaking out internally. Just received all of the meds and everything in the mail and now just waiting for my cycle to start. It is a lot of info and so many things involved it feels like! I hope everything goes well with yours!

It is a lot, but you'll be absolutely fine! I had a real anxiety about anything medical and freaked out at the idea of IVF but I've done it (just had 4th transfer) – and I now feel like I can conquer anything. Just go one step at a time, remember you can always ask if you can't remember the next step, things will be explained step by step as you go, but if you are someone who likes the bigger picture you can keep asking about how it will all play out, or just take it all as it comes. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement! I really appreciate it! And look at you! I hope I can be like that! I definitely am one to question everything lol so I’m sure I’ll be asking them a million questions as well. Good luck to you!!!

Like @badjeans i was petrified. I have such bad health anxiety that I won’t even go to the dentist, opticians or GP. So this was massive for me.

im currently in my 5th cycle - no longer scared of needles, scans, etc etc! That’s been the only positive to come from this journey.

Mentally - prepare yourself. This journey can be absolutely hell. Find hobbies that keep you grounded and sane. Support each other. Make time for each other, to grieve, to cry, to enjoy every win

You’ve got this! And on days you don’t feel like you have it, you’re now part of a huge IVF warrior platform and we will pick you up xx

Omg you are awesome! Thank you so so much! I feel lucky already to have this platform and talk with everyone about it! I have barely told anyone close to me about this (who are mostly coworkers) bc I don’t want to deal with any gossip or any of that. So it really is so nice to have all of you to talk with and make me feel better about going through this!! I also have struggled with crazy anxiety before any of this and so far this has been such a relief! Thank you again for the words of encouragement and heads up!

Ivf is the long game, so prepare yourself mentally that every step is a process and a waiting game and not everything goes to plan. Im about to start my 3rd stim cycle. But my first for this year, im 40 and in the thick of perimenopaus and I dont know if its going to work for me. I do have other children so im lucky and blessed but trying my luck with just one more hopefully.

Thank you! I have done 2 cycles of IUI prior to this and the meds were awful. Made me feel sick, achy, crampy etc the entire time. I am hoping at least that aspect of this will be better. My doctor told me it won’t be as bad but when I received all of the meds it’s hard to imagine it wouldn’t. I’m preparing myself for anything and everything but I know it’s gonna be tough regardless. Fingers crossed!! Good luck to you!! Thank you again for the heads up and information! 💜
