Has anyone done a duostim IVF cycle abroad? Bonus points if in Prague.

How long did you have to stay over there? Is it possible to come back home in between the egg collections?

Hi, you can find some reviews on Fertility Road, they publish an entire section dedicated to the fertility journey, including treatment in the Czech Republic. The FB group IVF Abroad is also very active, with many women who have undergone treatment in the Czech Republic.x

I’ve just had my last half of Duostim in Prague - egg retrieval yesterday. I’m 41 so time not on my side so wanted to maximise egg and embryo numbers. In the UK, we had x 3 cycles and between 2-5 embryos each cycle. Only tested 6 embryos and 1 euploid which was a chemical.

They used the long protocol which we have never used before and all was looking good. Managed to get 12 eggs. 9 were mature, 7 fertilised and then on day 5/6 we got told we had no blastocysts.

the communication has been poor - we have to chase the coordinator and when we had our consultation asking what went wrong, the consultant said it was likely that our UK embryos are not actually embryos (even though we got. Euploid!)

we still decided to go ahead with our second round and had egg collection yesterday. We asked for them to do half ICSI and half IVF this time (they use ICSI as standard there even if normal semen). Today we have found out out of 11 eggs, 5 have fertilised and 4 don’t look great.

we didn’t need to stay in Prague for long - could do all scans in the UK and email over results. They don’t use blood monitoring during stims which I think may be contributing to their poorer results.

we had much better results in the UK doing standard short protocols.

oh and a final thing - yesterday when going to sign our consent forms, they had put a different man’s name on my consent forms (not my husband). I’ve not really got any faith in them now.

Oh and i should add in the UK i have always had 100% fertilisation up to 2 months ago so something has gone wrong here.

The prices are cheaper but someone told me today cheap IVF can often be more expensive in the long run.
