Natural Modified IVF

Hi, this is my first post so pls bear with me. After a fair few years of ttc and NHS rejecting us for IVF help due to age, we now have the money to be able to afford to go to Create and pay privately. After all tests etc they have agree to let us do Natural Modified Cycle IVF. Im just so nervous tho, has anyone had this in later age and what number eggs are realistic? I'm just thinking itll be 1...its all a little overwhelming if im honest and just need some first hand experiences and/or advice maybe. Having a wobble currently thinking its a waste of time and it wont work. Obviously the idea is now we have the cash is to just 'try' so then we know for sure. My partner doesnt have great semen results so we doing icsi. I have only ever had one chemical and nothing since. Obviously it might be a egg issue but im trying to hope that maybe its a male factor and with this itll work...its so confusing. TIA

@L1ttleMy what do you mean by "at a later age"? this could be very relative. i had mine at 39 but there are women who've done it at 43 so just wondering where you're benchmarking?

Mid 40s. Tbh its hurts the heart even saying that but we are here and thats something . Chances minimal...Hard to enter something thats completly not in your favour really. But...a chance is a chance is a chance...

Gotcha, glad I asked!
I’m not sure how many mid 40s we have on the forum (Reddit might be a better shout).
what I would say is make the decision based on whether you think you might regret not giving it a shot later… nothing in ivf is guaranteed, chances are 50/50 once you’ve got to your euploid embryo. But then at your age they’d definitely ask you to do pgt-a testing so at least you’d know you’ve got the best chance of it working if you transfer an euploid. Unfortunately nothing can tell you how many eggs/blastos you’ll end up having so I guess it’s an honest conversation about whether you’d regret not doing it?

@L1ttleMy it's a tough road but not literally impossible. Many give it a shot to at minimum have closure, albeit at a bracing cost.

The number of eggs to expect will be based on your reserve - antral follicle count if you've had a scan of your ovaries and AMH (hormone blood test). FSH can also predict the likelihood of responding to stimulation (IVF is essentially injecting more FSH).

I wish you luck.

The AMH I feel like is a bit of a weird one… I’ve seen people with it super low getting 8 eggs, but I’m not sure how it actually works. But there are definitely tests they can do before hand. But again, as this is a “let’s throw everything at it” scenario I wouldn’t let myself be discouraged by stats. You never know how many eggs you’ll get, and then how many will mature, and how many will fertilise, and how many will get to blastos and then euploids. It does only take one (currently 8w pregnant with my 1 euploid!!!!). So I think if you think you’ll always wonder, I’d go for it, be realistic with the odds but stay hopeful!

Hey op, I did 3 cycles with create, 5 if you count the two cancelled at egg collection. The only one that gave us a blastocyst was the last one, which was the only round we did natural modified. Higher stims were not good for my eggs, and we got one egg, one blast, and one pregnancy from that last round. Also had two nhs high stims rounds before then with poor results and two spontaneous pregnancies inbetween ending in mc. Am 40. You will not regret trying, even if it doesn’t work, or rather, you’d regret not trying more. Good luck!

I’ll add, my body happily made a fair few eggs over those rounds, and every single one fertilised, but only two made it to blast and only one a high quality blast, and that was the natural modified round.
