Vaginal probiotic pessaries help

Hi, I'm in need of some help. We are about to start our final round of IVF and as a precaution out clinic is giving me a course of antibiotics in case I have bad bacteria. For the past two months I have been taking oral probiotics with lactobacillus called Optibac. My consultant wants me to take vaginal pessaries along side them also containing lactobacillus but I'll be dammed if I can find any. Has anyone used any they can recommend. I've been recommended so many by my clinic and they are either discontinued or out of stock. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you xx

Finding vaginal probiotics is a nightmare! I used these ones but it took me a long time to find them (and they are expensive).

I was recommended biocare intrafresh by my clinic in the run up to a FET, they contain Lactobacillus. A nutritionist also recommended an oral probitic, https://naturaldispensary.co.uk/1361_biome-her-30s which contain Lactobacillus crispatus, the best strain to have, I took these before, during and after my successful FET

I had the same problem finding them even though there was a huge list! I used these in the end. I didn’t take antibiotics as was all
clear with Emma and Alice testing so the pessaries were just an extra it won’t hurt measure. (Pregnant with that fet now but don’t know if that made the difference or not).

I think you need to take a decent course of them to build up good bacteria again after the antibiotics maybe 6-8 weeks minimum. When explaining the possible outcomes from the Emma/ Alice testing my clinic said they’d then retest after that 6-8 week course then they’d retest as sometimes people still don’t have enough good bacteria so need another course of the vaginal pessaries. Might not be a factor for you but just sharing as I hadn’t been aware of the possible timelines.

Hi everyone, thank you for your responses they are so helpful. We've spent thousands on treatment and we just can't afford the Emma and alice test so probiotics orally and vaginally are being done as a precaution along with antibiotics.
I have a question though, my clinic have said, take a weeks worth of the vaginal pessaries then one a week until I start my progesterone support. Which would mean stopping them, then having the antibiotics, but I would need to continue them to build the bacteria back up wouldn't I?

Yes I think so. I did a one off session with a nutritionist (lovely lady called Sarah Nash) to go through the best probiotics and other things I could do to help my microbiome pre transfer whcih I found v helpful, i think nutritionists who specialise in fertility honestly know more about it than doctors! But my understanding is you'd need to take them to add back in the good bacteria that's just been wiped out alongside the bad by the antibiotics

Can I ask did you take them during your pregnancy ? All the why though? Thanks

I looked at Bio Care and almost bought last night but they say if you are pregnant or planning to be then not to use. Has anyone got any experience with Seed? They do a vaginal Synbiotic daily supplement. They are pricey but I like that I can buy from an actual company and not Amazon.

I took the Biome hers once I was pregnant until they ran out, and then switched to optibac pregnancy. I was told it's fine to take while pregnant but as they're more vagubal health focused, to switch to a pregnancy focused one after

I avoided biocare for this reason. They used to do Inteafresh ‘plus’ which were safe but discontinued those ones and now the normal ones say not to take in pregnancy.

Yeah I stopped taking those after my FET had happened but my clinic had said was fine to use in the run up
