Norethisterone and IVF

Hi all, I am due to have a FET at the end of January and my clinic are starting me on norethisterone next week to line up my cycle.

I am ovulating now and as we have unexplained infertility we have still been TTC naturally. I have seen that norethisterone is bad to take during pregnancy so I am wondering, should we not try naturally this month?? I would be 6-7dpo by the time I start taking it, is this likely to have an effect? My clinic haven’t told me to abstain from intercourse.
I have never seen a BFP in over 2 years of trying so I doubt this month would be any different but I also don’t want to miss an opportunity 😞

My clinic always told me to abstain/use condoms once I started norethisterone but probably worth checking directly with yours. Good luck with your cycle!

Hi @FancyGoosethank you! I can’t say I’m shocked my clinic haven’t told me. They haven’t been great at communication!

I know this is old and probably irrelevant but I was taking norethisterone for a few days before an ivf cycle, nobody told me to abstain, we had sex once at totally the wrong time and conceived our perfect daughter. I found out 9dpo (was super tired so did a test) and stopped taking it. She is perfect and healthy and gorgeous and magic and super bright, so I think as long as you test early it’s probably ok unless you’ve been taking it long term?! Don’t quote me but it worked out fine for us ❤️
