Kings Fertility - Denmark hill

Wanted to share our poor experience with kings Fertility to hopefully help someone else avoid going through the same. Multiple admin errors, over charging, poor service. Clinically all fine but failed to see us as people, felt like a number. Raised a number of complaints (which is a long and protracted process) and felt like we were being gas lit. Overall just terrible and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

@Starlitsky90 sorry you had such a bad experience although I’m glad it wasn’t anything clinical.
I’m with King’s as well and have been super happy with everything - from the admin to the staff’s kindness and supportiveness! We’ve really felt they’ve had our backs, were always there when we had additional questions and were on top of everything.
only thing I’d say I haven’t liked is the long wait for nurse’s consent approvals, but even these haven’t been too bad considering how many people are with them.

Hi all, sorry to hear this @Starlitsky90we are also at kings. Did you have to do anything differently?

@ziraficawhats the nurse’s consent approvals? We ‘re hoping to start ivf in Feb

@Bubbles14 before you start any medications you need to have a consultation with the nurse where they walk you through the meds and what it’s all going to look like. You can’t move on before you’ve had this call and sometimes it takes 3 weeks to book it in. They’ll explain it all once you start.

Thank you for replying @ziraficathat’s really helpful to know, hoping it’s all going/gone as well as it can for you

@Starlitsky90 I had a not great experience latest cycle at King's but sort of for opposite reasons. I found the admin and nursing side great, but had no consultant continuity of care and the clinical decisions were generic and not tailored to me at all.
All my appointments were 40 minutes late and I felt very rushed and my questions and concerns were overlooked. So I will be switching clinics for my next cycle.
I would say no use complaining (given how medical complaints are notoriously ignored), sorry you also had a tough time.

Yeah we had the same. No continuity of care or any sense treatment was at all personalised. We asked so many times for different tests (that we ended up having elsewhere and worked) and they just kept saying the evidence wasn’t clear so they don’t do it. Never felt listened to

That’s interesting @Starlitsky90as I was a bit shocked to be told next step is ivf after only an amh test and a scan. What other tests did you have that worked?

we still went down the ivf route but I had separate immunology and microbiome testing done which both impacted my treatment plan. Kings just said they weren’t evidenced enough so just didn’t offer it even when I asked.

Hi, I’m really sorry you’re going through this, it’s absolutely unprofessional. This is especially frustrating when it comes to self-paid options. A while back, I came across a brilliant article called 7 questions to ask a clinic on either egg donation friends or fertility clinics abroad (can’t remember which). It’s incredibly helpful—my friends and I followed their recommendations when choosing clinics, and it really made a difference.
Unfortunately, nobody is ever completely safe when deciding on a clinic. But as painful as this experience is, it does give you more wisdom and insight for making the best choice next time.
