I am just reaching out to see if anyone at all has gone through this as we are just so confused right now.
We paid for X2 cycle IVF directly via the fertility clinic (bourn hall in our case) and have just had our first cycle. My partner has done 3 previous cycles all unsuccessful due to low AMH/egg quality.
We have used the same sperm donor all the way though and today was the day of my first transfer. Just before we left we got a call from the consultant to ask us not to attend as that have just been informed that sperm donor we selected has been recalled due to a baby being born from the same donor with severe genetic abnormalities.
they have frozen my two blasts - which were low grade 4CC & 3BC and I’m not sure they would have even bothered freezing if they had a choice - and cancelled my fresh transfer.
I’ve been told we need to wait for tests to be done which could take months at which point they will continue with treatment or discard the Frosties.
has anyone been through this? Used donor sperm that has been recalled? Will we get another egg collection free of charge if they can’t use them?
that poor family too. My head is spinning with so many questions right now and I would love to talk to someone who has been through similar.
