Attrition rate over 40?

Just wanted some advice as keep panicking.
I’m soon to be 41, had egg retrieval for the first time, 14 eggs, 13 mature and 8 have so far been fertilised.

The statistics are 10% will be euploid but 10% of 8 is 0.8 so less than one?

Should I prepare myself for no results, is that the likely outcome?

Hi, you really can't know what the results are going to be until they come back. I'm 39, I should've gotten 30% euploids and only got 1 out of 7 tested come back euploid. Ok we still have 7 on ice so there is a chance that 3 out of those 7 are euploids which would bring us to the average percentage, but I highly doubt it. You really can't know until the results are back sadly. But I think at your age it's 100% worth testing. I always think we could've tried 6 times and failed each time until we got to the 1 euploid, and I'm not even sure I would've been ok with trying that many times.

Thankyou, we are doing testing; odds are just stacked against us at my age.
this is such a rollercoaster isn’t it :-/

I've seen lots of different estimates for euploidy averages at 41, but 10% is one of the more pessimistic ones I've seen. It's really rough, though, you are right. Sad

@Frazzled252i think your stats are good. I was 39 going on 40 and collected 12 eggs, 10 mature and only 4 fertilized but 2 made it and currently 29 weeks with my first transfer - my second round after NHS one. Sending you all of the luck

The standard attrition funnel is 30-50% of fertilised eggs reach blastocyst. And for 40 my PGTA lab reports 40% euploidy, so still quite high tbh (25% at 41). However variations can be massive, both between individuals and cycles. It's a never ending prayer for the stats to be on your side, as even once you have a euploid it's still only around 50/50 for it to work. However about 80% of women are successful across two euploid transfers.

So your hope is 1 or 2. But if you are unlucky, another round could still go your way.
