Consultation tomorrow- what to ask

Finally making the move and properly looking into IVF now. We have a video call with the consultant tomorrow to discuss options after having tests in June that all came back normal for our ages.

I did wonder if given we have normal test results, just not getting anywhere, if we should go for IUI first? So I want to get his opinion on this. I’m so nervous about IVF. Everything about it. Mostly because there is nothing knowingly wrong with us, it’s just not happening. Likely due to age I feel.

anyways. We we saw him in June he basically alluded to a 25% success rate and spending a lot of money as we already have a child and wouldn’t be eligible for funding so advised us to keep trying naturally for a few months but here we are, still nothing.

they’re not going to start anything until the new year due to Christmas closures.

is there anything you wish you had asked about in the first appointment or anything maybe not obvious you can think of having been through the process, that would have been good to know early on?

I also wanna ask about natural vs medical cycles as I am very sensitive to my natural hormones that taking so many extra does worry me. I’m making a list.

sorry this is higgledy piggledy. So much to think about

What tests have you had done and what were the results?

Hi OP, you mentioned age, how old are you? I don't know if pgta testing is on your radar, but one big advantage if ivf, with this testing, is you would only be putting an embryo back in knowing it was chromosomally normal, giving a much higher chance of inplantation/ongoing pregnancy, and as we get older the chances of making chromosomally normal embryos gets lower

Some other things to consider are uterine environment checks, like a microbiome test to see of there might be any infections or imbalances, or any issue like scarring in tbe uterus. I'd say both very useful to rule out whether you try naturally or do IVF
