Cyclogest in IVF Pregnancy - Dose

I’m just wondering what dose your ivf clinics put you on?
I was put on 400mg twice a day from the day after my egg collection. I am very gratefully now pregnant. At 8 weeks pregnant I was told to wean down to 400mg once a day. Then at 9 weeks to wean down to 400mg every second day. And then to stop at 10 weeks. Does this sound right? I see many women on here on progesterone for 12-16 weeks.

Hi, I depends on how much support is needed. If it was a fresh egg cycle then the corpus luteum produces progesterone and a person might not need as much support. Some people shut ovaries down to control cycle timings so no corpus luteum and need full support till placenta takes over at 12 weeks. 800mg daily is the standard dose.

@Sara237 I was on down regulation for a month before starting stims, and it was a fresh transfer

If you produced a dominant follicle and had eggs harvested then you'd have a corpus luteum so natural progesterone. I had no eggs so no C/C and so need progesterone till 12 wks pregnant. Your dose makes sense! How I detest these pessaries!

@SummerSolstice25have you had any bleeding? If you have try and take them for as long as you can. My clinic told me that I could come off them at 8 weeks but I had enough and continued to take. I spoke to my consultant and she said it causes no harm so to use up what I had. I stayed on them until end of week 16.

@confused2025 no I’ve had no bleeding. I don’t have a history of miscarriages but I don’t have a history of pregnancy either so it’s hard to know what to do. I was going to continue to 12 weeks as I had plenty of boxes but then yesterday I read a thread on here regarding progesterone supplementation and autism and it worried me. It’s my first time with everything so as you can imagine I’m overthinking my every step!
@Sara237 they are a real nuisance aren’t they!

I was initially told just to take up until my scan at 8 weeks , they said I could continue if I wanted to 12 for my own piece of mind but I am in two minds whether to just come of them or stay on?! I had a part natural FET, I had a lead folicle naturally develop and they then gave me a trigger to time to ovulation so it scheduled with the FET appointment.

@SummerSolstice25 I think there are lots of things that can potentially cause ‘autism’ but most that I know it’s more down to genetics. I personally think if you have them, I would continue to 12 just to make sure levels are ok. I hear you - 28 weeks here and there is so much conflicting information online and I feel like I’ve no idea what I’m doing or need to do 🤣

Hey @SummerSolstice25 I was told to take them (800mg) till 12 weeks, and at my booking appointment it was suggested I might need to take them till 16 weeks due to personal circumstances (cervix stuff).
