FINAL round IVF January 26

spamOFtheDAY · 21/11/2025 07:38

After 4 failed rounds (8 embryos transfer)
2 (natural) missed miscarriages

1 chemical
(1 living child, 5yrs)
40yrs (no diagnosed infertility, just age I guess 😞)

I’ve decided to cut my losses and the next will be my last round of IVF 😞

anyone doing IVF the same time / in a similar situation?

Best of luck with your final round. I had my 5th and final round, we were going to move on to donor eggs next, one egg collected (low stims as a final try at something different) and I’m about 9 weeks now and as of yesterday’s scan it’s going well. (Also had two spontaneous pregnancies and MCs between IVF cycles).

I hope your last round is a good one!

@spamOFtheDAY are you transferring only or doing egg collection in January? I've got my first consult appointment start of Dec and am going to push to see if I can start my first round in January. I'm in a different situation where I've conceived 5 times but all have been losses, 4 missed miscarriages and a neonatal death at 22 weeks due to infection. I also have chromosome abnormalities (hence the IVF now to have PGT).

Thank you - yeah it's been a long and painful journey. I regularly switch between assuming I'll never get a living child, to hoping IVF may give us the chance. I've also got amazing preterm birth specialists and pregnancy consultants who have a long plan for if I get pregnant again, just have to make it to that stage first!

I'm hoping if I'm super efficient and on it with chasing the clinic then we could get everything ready in time for January but with Christmas I'm not pinning hopes on it.

Best of luck for your new cycle - hope this one is the one that works for you x

I am hoping to have my final embryo transferred in Jan. I had a fresh transfer in March which ended in MMC, second transfer failed and I cancelled the third as my lining was only 7mm. I had 2 natural pregnancies which ended in MC then nothing for 2 years.

Hoping this is a lucky thread for us all.

I’m also on my final round.. good luck with yours. How’s things going?
i I was wondering if I could seek advice please.
age 40, amh 4.8
I have 10 frozen eggs from age 37
I was planning to do one final cycle (lost a pregnancy and had 3 failed transfers)
My plan is to dethaw the eggs I have and do another round to create as many embryos as possible.
But at my baseline scan the doctor only saw four follicles and I’m aware they may not all grow and have mature eggs. What confuses me is last month I had 8 follicles. He said it can vary month to month.. Do I wait another cycle to see if have more then or crack on and hope for the best? What would you do?
I’n concerned about spending a lot of money if I won’t get good results this month as not sure I can afford another round but also aware my follicle count could be the same or less next month!
is only 4 follicles normal with my amh? I find this all so confusing!
would be great to hear your thoughts.
Thanks xx

@Sandra00 its such an annoying position to be in when the stakes are so high. My amh is lower, but given that one round gave me 5 eggs, the next round I only had two follicles responding and they offered me to cancel which I did. The next round I got 4 eggs, so in terms of numbers it was better, and your body does change it up. For me though, I’m not sure if numbers necessarily = quality. In out final round there were two changes, I started eating meat again for the first time in 15 years as even though I was a healthy protein conscious vegetarian, a blood test showed I had low protein, and also we aimed for 1 egg with very low stims so my body could focus its energies on that. It was the only round (in five) that we’ve gotten a high quality blast. So even though it’s a numbers game, there’s more to it than simply higher numbers. Especially given how hard low amh bodies need to be pushed to make more eggs. I started ttc at 35 and was 39 when we got our good embryo. I’m 17 weeks today, sadly with high change of late loss/very premie, but that’s unrelated to the baby.

its such a stressful position you’re in, I just went over all the pros and cons. Our clinic didn’t charge for the round until collection, so you could always wait and see if they’re responding normally and decide a few days later if there’s time?

@aLogLady Thanks.. that’s really interesting!
Inhavent started meds yet that’s the problem so not sure I want to if not going to go ahead.
i’m thinking to maybe wait or use the frozen eggs I have to create embryos and try those first. But then also worry about delaying retrievals in case it gets tougher. This is such a journey isn’t it! Just hope we all get our happy endings x

@Sandra00 if you’re going for one final round, I’d def say do that first, whether this month or delayed till next. You never know what might happen with your younger eggs, and def recruiting more eggs before using them is a logical idea if you were up for another round anyway.
