Unused Medication - Pergoveris

any suggestions on what to do with a huge (and costly) amount of unused meds?

I was about to start a last duo stim attempt so had a prescription for a lot of medication (8 boxes!), we very fortunately found out we were pregnant just before I was due to go for my baseline scan.

its just such a huge amount to go waste if anyone knows if I can sell it on or do something with it.

the most responsible thing is to bring it back to pharmacy that’s what I did with all mine. It’s unfortunate but you can’t just go selling /dispensing drugs to people, they could have a reaction to the drugs etc and then who is responsible.
congrats on your pregnancy ! Hope all goes well

I've often thought the same especially with people who have a specific prescription for a drug that someone else is throwing away. I have ovitrelle and Lubion left over. Lubion vials are 65 pounds a box so I'll see if I can return them to fertility2U the online pharmacy I got them from. But when I received my prescription, if I could have used the exact drug and quantity of someone's surplus I'd have been pleased. Perhaps there should be a free IVF drugs club!

Please dont hand over ivf prescription drugs, even if someone else is on the same. You have no real concrete way of knowing if that person is actually going through ivf and are on those medications and they should be 100% under the care of a prescribing doctor. They are prescription medications for a reason and even a normal gp can not prescribe them to just anyone.

@Miraclemuma03 No hand overs planned 😂 as you say, could be anyone on here. More a hypothetical thought about the annoying waste and expense that could be recycled if there was an organisation that coordinated an exchange but obviously this would be non profit so as I say, it's a hypothetical utopian thought ATM!

The problem is storage as well. Like can you trust strangers to store the drugs properly in their own home , like ones that have to be refrigerated etc . I certainly wouldn’t trust drugs that someone was keeping in their house. It is an awful waste when the drugs are crazy expensive but I’m not sure what the solution is really

I have so much left over medication taking up space in my fridge and top cupboard. Im thankful my local chemist takes unused needles and medications and we have a chemist in middle of town that takes the sharps containers.

It’s illegal to pass on prescription drugs for good reasons. You don’t know who they’re going to or what for. Just take them back to a pharmacy.
