TW BFP - how long did you test for?

Hi everyone,

after a long journey we finally got our first positive test yesterday morning! Really weren’t expected it so are absolutely delighted but I am just so nervous now hoping everything goes ok from here!

how long did everyone keep testing for? And what date should we be getting 3+ weeks on a clear blue? I was 12dp5dt when I tested yesterday and the test said 2-3 weeks which I think is ok!

Congratulations! 🍾🎊 Try not to stress over the tests too much I think they can cause more stress than reassurance, enjoy this moment right now. SAre you having a beta test to confirm or just a scan at 7 weeks?

@Kaybee1989 thank you! Yes I think you’re probably right! I’m nhs funded so my hospital don’t do betas just the 7 week scan but I’m considering booking a beta test privately

I found having the beta gave me the reassurance that I needed to believe that it was a viable pregnancy and then the 7week scan confirmed placement. I thought I’d relax and enjoy it after then but to be honest there’s always something in the back of your mind. After that scan it was the 12 week scan where they picked up an anomaly, luckily at 13 weeks it was fine. Then it was the 20 week scan to make sure everything was growing fine, then I relaxed more and enjoyed the pregnancy. I found distraction and mindfulness helped more than extra scans and tests, they only gave me reassurance until the next few days and it’d start all over again.
You’re almost there for the scan, another couple of weeks to go? How exciting for you! I’ve got my fingers crossed for a smooth pregnancy 🤰💓

I know there’s always going to be the next worry isn’t there! But this is as far as we’ve got in this journey so far so I’m happy to be at the next stage of worrying! Lol. The hospital said 3/4 weeks for the scan, I’m hoping I will get the date tomorrow and then I will see how far away it feels and possibly book a blood test!

are you still pregnant or have you given birth now?

Yes, get excited for every different worry 😂💖 I gave birth in May to our baby after years of trying, so I completely understand the being happy to worry lol And it doesn’t stop even when they’re here! My mum always used to say that she never stops worrying about me and she’s right, as per, but what a wonderful worry to have 🥰 Did you get a date today?

@Kaybee1989 congrats on your baby!! We’ve been trying for 4 years so I know the feeling it really is the worst but so worth now your little one is here! I love hearing the success stories. So true the worries just change but never go away I’m sure. I didn’t get a date today so hopefully will hear tomorrow

Hi, I know this thread is nearly a year old but I was just wondering @TSHconfusion if you went on levohtyroxine for your elevated TSH (that you mentioned in another thread) or did you push for the steroid Prednisolone? Thanks.

@VioletHaze24 i was just on levothyroxine to get my TSH below 2.5. I think it was around 1.7 for my successful transfer

Thanks so much for responding. I’ve been assured by my clinic that below 4 is “normal” and 2.5 is no longer the standard TSH number that clinics use. My gut is telling me otherwise. How long did it take your TSH level to go down on the levothyroxine? Days or weeks? My TSH is nearly 3 (2.8) and I’d be happier if it came down below 2.5 before my transfer.

@VioletHaze24 i would push back on this as my consultant ended up writing a letter to my GP saying it needed to stay below 2.5 as the GP was also saying it was fine at around 5 and wouldn’t prescribe me otherwise but the fertility consultant said definitely 2.5 when ttc. Just to add my thyroid was never put down as the reason for our infertility so it could have made no difference but I understand wanting to make sure everything is right as to not waste precious embryos which is why the trial and error approach is so heartbreaking. I’m sorry I don’t know how long mine took to come down as my GP would only test my levels every 6 weeks

Thanks @TSHconfusion I might get another TSH test done as I know it can fluctuate quite a bit. For your successful transfer, was it just the addition of levothyroxine that changed from your previous transfers? No other meds? I’ll be on 3 cyclogests, 10mg of Prednisolone, a daily Clexane injection and 3 Progynovas. I do wonder if I need more progesterone as I know it can fall for some people after transfer and I’d rather have too much than not enough. Any advice about that? Thanks again 😊

@VioletHaze24 no I started the levothyroxine before my very first transfer! We did nothing different on our successful transfer I think we were just unlucky that out of our 6 embryos 5 didn’t take! We maybe should have tested them before transfer but the nhs don’t offer that and because we were young we probably wouldn’t have anyway. I was on 3 cyclogests and also thought it wouldn’t be enough and was really concerned it could be too low for transfer as my levels weren’t being checked at all and I know some clinics do check but my consultant basically said with taking 3 there was no way it could be low. I did try to find somewhere privately to test on the morning of transfer too but nowhere could get the results back the same day so just went with the 3 Cyclogest. I think I was taking 4 prognovas but again it was the same as all my failed transfers

I will fully admit that I took my last test at 14 weeks 😂. But I hadn’t tested for many weeks before! I think once I had had the initial beta tests and first scan I started to believe it was happening. And it might sound ridiculous but I was just so happy so I would do a test to relive the moment. Also was still in disbelief

My advice (obviously not qualified to give any with my confession 🤣) would be to stay away probably from the date range tests once you’ve finished the batch you have as I think they can cause stress. Similarly don’t worry too much about line darkness and comparison of progressions once you’ve gotten to your beta. When is it?

@SlightlyTerrifiedButPolite thank you for your advice but happy to say this is an old post that has been restarted and my little one is now 3 months old so all went well thankfully!
