Faint line after IVF — worried after previous miscarriage

My wife and I recently had a IVF transfer (a 5AA blastocyst) on October 4th. She got a positive pregnancy test, but the line isn’t as dark as we expected now that she’s about 4 weeks. We’re both really anxious it could mean an early loss — we’ve been through a miscarriage before, so it’s hard not to worry.

She hasn’t had any bleeding or cramping, and we’re planning to retest tomorrow morning with first-morning urine. She in particular is upset about this, as she hasn’t had any pregnancy symptoms.

Has anyone else had a lighter test line that still turned out okay? Any experiences or reassurance would mean a lot right now.

You could always get a beta blood test to confirm your HCG level, if you had the transfer on the 4th you will be ten days past transfer and they say anything above 70hcg at 10 days past is a viable pregnancy, you are still early and could just be too early for a thick /dark line , but a line progression would be a good indicator if your hcg level is going up, so just keep testing every two days .. hcg should double ever 48-36 hours , hope this helps

Do you have a photo of the test? Agree with pp that hcg blood draw will be more accurate. My first FRER was a bit faint (although second line came up inmediately). Decided to get an hcg test, it was on the low side at 4 weeks but it doubled every 48hrs so my pregnancy is going strong. Good luck OP.

Hello
I also had a transfer on 04.10.25. I had a faint positive on Wednesday at 11dp5dt at which point I’d been been bleeding lightly for 2 days. No other symptoms. I’ve tested tonight and bdp a little bit darker than yesterday’s test so keeping hope. Still bleeding lightly. Good luck to you x

Yes, here is a photo - we have just done another test and it is darker than before but not as dark as we would like. The top one is the one we did today, the bottom one is the one 2 days ago

Hi OP, just to flag, you don't compare different types of tests. Line progression is a woolly science at best, but need to be done with the exact same test. They're made with different amounts of dye, so don't work in the same way.

I don't recognise these tests, but they look like cheap ones with higher HCG thresholds. For these, having fainter lines on your dates is completely normal.
