HSG help following ectopic

Been ttc for a year now since an ectopic pregnancy losing my tube. GP referring us to fertility clinic. I am concerned there could be damage to my remaining tube and wanted to look into going private for a HSG or similar for peace of mind. Wondering if anyone has experienced this and can shed some light?

  1. If I go private will there be additional costs like blood tests, follow up appointments etc / hidden costs?
  1. Would NHS be able to accept the results from the private clinic?
  1. Those who have had an ectopic or fertility tests has NHS offered a HSG as part of the investigations?

Thank you x

After ectopic I asked if I could have an HSG to check all was ok but the nhs said they don’t do that. I didn’t end up losing my tube (though was in a bed queued outside surgery at one point!).

Ive just tested positive after ivf (4.5 years ttc) and was looking at my chances of another after ivf, it’s still increased compared to others doing ivf but lower than doing it without ivf.

in terms of nhs accepting results from private clinics: I had to get a private smear in order to do ivf (or wait several additional months) and one nurse said she wasn’t sure it would be accepted, but another said it would be. So I’d check with the person you’re getting treatment from and ask directly (and take their name!)

Hey i lost both my tubes due to 3 ectopics. The first one they said the remaining tube looked “clear” following the surgery in 2024.
I then had a stump ectopic in the scar (0.4%) in june 25… i also had a HSG following that surgery which said remaining tube was clear.
I got pregnant in august…..but it was a ectopic in my remaining tube which i lost and now need IVF.
I really wouldn’t recommend the HSG as i literally got pregnant after but was ectopic, so felt pointless.
Obviously im a negative nelly but when ive looked into it on other forums there isn’t much positively around them and my best friend got PID from it.
Where i am the nhs ivf clinic have accepted our private sperm and blood tests as i printed them all off but maybe check with your clinic. NHS don’t routinely do them so i guess i feel very unlucky having 2 on the nhs which haven’t worked 🤦🏼‍♀️
Wishing you all the best!

Thank you for sharing your experience with the HSG and I'm so sorry to hear about your multiple ectopics😔 have you started IVF yet? I actually found out I was pregnant a few days ago but the tests are very, very faint no progression and I've started bleeding today like my usual period. I'm worried history is repeating itself although I have no one sided pain just cramps but the bleeding and lack of line progression similar to my first symptoms with previous ectopic 😪 going to the EPU for bloods tomorrow x
