IVF 6dp5dt - possibly positive (or trigger?)

Hello. I want to say “me again!” as I’ve had two (spontaneous) positives I couldn’t believe before that sadly turned into miscarriages. I’m 39, ttc 4-5 years, this is our 5th and probably last round of ivf so forgive me for posting.

Ive been testing out my trigger shot, which was double ovutrelle 13 days ago. It had been getting barely visible.

This mornings “sample” was a lot more concentrated than the last few days which is where my hesitancy in believing this comes in. My test from this morning is clearly darker than the last two days. Annoyingly, I’m in a remote Scottish town on a fam holiday with my nieces nephew sisters and parents. I only have boots strip tests with me and only one more. I’ll put the results below. Apologies for the weird angles, it was the only way I could get a non shadow photo.

the single test is from today. The two tests are the two days previous. They had barely visible squint under certain light type lines. But then my sample wasn’t as concentrated.

What do you think wise women? Sorry if this is rambling I’m very tired, just woke up and am trying to wind in excitement.

If this is the morning of the 6th day it’s too early I’m afraid, HCG levels won’t be high enough to measure until possibly day 7.
Hang on in there -wishing you lots of luck Flowers

Hmm.. here was I thinking that yesterday was actually the ideal day to get a positive and today was a bit late… this equates to 11dpo in terms of normal pregnancies?

I got a fainter positive than that on a strip test at 6DPT and am now 34 weeks. I got a clearer positive on a first response. Have attached pics for reference.

Got first vvvvv faint positive 5DPT in the evening but you could only see it if you held it in the right light!

I would be cautiously optimistic. I think your trigger has gone as the other tests are definitely not picking up the same levels of HCG. Really hope this one sticks.

Actually I was going to say that if you have used the same strips and used FMU then if you tested out your trigger as per the photo of the 2 tests and now have a darker line as per the single test the yes this would suggest that hcg is rising rather than falling…..tentative congratulations

Nosejug · 15/10/2025 11:11

Thanks everyone, it’s what I’m tentatively thinking. It’s obviously far from the feeling of joy and excitement I felt with my first pregnancy but it’s amazing to (possibly) cross over the line again!

I’d say the same- if you’ve tested the trigger out then that looks like a faint genuine positive to me. Have you got an update?

Nosejug · 17/10/2025 18:13

yes @Mummytobe1994 getting a little stronger every day! I'm being so realistic about it as I've obviously been burned in the past, but I'm so grateful to have a shot again. My clinic does bloods to confirm so got a test on monday. Just gonna (try) try enjoy every day as it is and not think ahead one tiny bit. I will be testing regularly though hah.

@Nosejug this is amazing news!! Congratulations. These definitely look like they are getting darker by the day ✨

Nosejug · 18/10/2025 06:20

Oh hi @KayEmmSquared ! nice to see you :) I’d definitely gotten it into my head that ivf was a fantasy for me so I’m glad I’ve gotten this far. Baby steps, I’m gonna put blinkers on and not look into the near future. Nice to wake up with something good to think about for a change!

How many weeks are you now??

OP posts:
KayEmmSquared · 18/10/2025 08:36

@Nosejug this was the best post to stumble across yesterday, I cried! So happy for you, but I totally understand you keeping the blinkers on for now, I’m 19w tomorrow and I still have blinkers on, the joys of IVF! I will keep you in my positive thoughts, I really hope this is your time ❤️

Nosejug · 20/10/2025 06:14

Aww @KayEmmSquared you cutie:) your message made me well up reading that you cried hehe! and sorry for the delayed reply, I wrote a message but it didn’t send?!

Ah wow 19weeks!! How have you been feeling? I hope your blinkers can lift soon, but I understand completely.

I can’t believe how quickly (as an outsider) time seems to progress for other ppls pregnancies! It’s weird that you can measure your journey in terms of the children friends have managed to make (multiple!) while you wait around for your life to continue.

You were one of the first people I interacted with on here and when I saw it was finally hopefully all working out for you I just burst out crying, we deserve this!!

I have been feeling ok, nausea up util 13weeks and now it’s constant hip pain, but I’ll take it all to make it to March 🤞🏻 yea time seems to be its own thing in IVF doesn’t it, I can’t believe I’m 19weeks but I also feel like I should be 52 weeks at this point lol

please keep me posted on your progress, I’m rooting for you!

Pep1952 · 20/10/2025 19:17

Hi @Nosejug you may not remember me but we met here on mumsnet some time ago last year! I’m so happy this is looking like good news for you I really am. All fingers and toes crossed for you. Thinking of you xx

Nosejug · 20/10/2025 21:28

heh yeah @KayEmmSquared like you said, I honestly think I'll embrace nausea if it comes, though wow, till 13 weeks is a long time to feel rough.. And sorry to hear about the hip pain - I didn't know it was a thing. Eesh, I hope it's not too bad. I called my epu (and the widwife and I recognised each other's voices hah!) they've really looked after me in the past. I'll get a scan to check its in the right position and then a further scan for viability.

and @Pep1952 yes of course I remember you! I think about you both from that thread still. How are you getting on? this was my third round in a 3 cycle package, but the only round to make a blast from just one collected egg (we did natural modified for the last round). They gave me a picture of it as they were so pleased I'd finally made something good and it jokingly got put on the wall at home (but it's still there...) Thanks so much for reaching out, it was very nice to hear from you :)

I had bloods today (16dpo) and theyre at 549 which she said was good. I'll request a second draw to put ectopic out my mind till my first nhs scan.

Pep1952 · 20/10/2025 22:29

@Nosejug that’s an excellent hcg level, so happy for you! I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant from my second cycle (first one didn’t work). My hcg was 123 on 9dp5dt and then 256 at 11dp5dt so yours is really good I think. I had my first scan at 7 weeks and babe was a few days behind so was really anxious but caught up soon after and we’ve made it to 28 weeks now! Keep us posted, routing for you and baby from that one golden, super egg!! X

Nosejug · 21/10/2025 07:16

oh wow!!! 28 weeks ❤firmly pregnant then hehe. how lovely that your story took a turn for the best. I love finding long, old threads on here where you scroll to the bottom and see an eventual happy ending. keep me updated on your pregnancy please!

I like the idea that it was a golden egg -- makes me think of charlie and the chocolate factory. here's hoping... I'll let you both know how the scan goes : )

How are you getting on @Nosejug ? Xx

Nosejug · 09/11/2025 07:28

Hey @Pep1952 :) it’s not been plain sailing, but it’s still going… 🙏
TV scan at 5+5 showed fetal pole (1.2mm) and maybe start of heartbeat
Abdominal scan at 6+5 showed clear heartbeat, though measured only 2.6mm. I’m just hoping it’s because of the abdominal scan itself rather than the embryo being that small. Sonographer wasn’t concerned.
Also had a small gush of blood, and some pink spotting, though on the scan she could not see active bleeding, and cervix was closed, just lots of clots adjacent to the gestational sac. Oh and my ovary is bleeding 🫣 hah. My poor right ovary has been through the ringer this year!

so not a clean report, but not necessarily bad news. Next scan at 8+5. My EPU have been very supportive for which I’m grateful.

how are you??

OP posts:
Pep1952 · 10/11/2025 09:21

@Nosejug thanks for the update! At 6+5 they’re super tiny so I was told the sizing isn’t very accurate, and as you said it was an abdominal scan so even less accurate. So glad they found a clear heartbeat! That’s a huge milestone. I’m pleased they’re keeping a close eye on you, I hope each scan brings you a bit more of reassurance.

I’m doing ok thank you. The anxiety never really goes away, at least in my case, but I just also feel grateful every day.

Keep us posted, we’re all rooting for you! X
