Hello. I am due to have a FET in November, following two failed transfers this year. I have unexplained fertility and the only issue that has previously been identified is low progesterone.

My consultant has suggested lubion injections for then next transfer which I agree with but he has also suggested that we could try predisnolone steroids, however hasn’t explained much about them.

I wonder if anybody has any experience of using them, pros/cons and any idea of cost?

Thanks in advance :)

I was on prednisolone from a week or so pre transfer until 14 weeks pregnant, after immune testing showed I had elevated NK cells. I've read some Dr's put people on them just in case, or because of another immune issue, to calm the immune response and help implantation/early pregnancy.

There are various side effects, I didn't have any badly and couldn't really tell you what a side effect of prednisolone or the progesterone I was on. I gained weight while on the meds, but could have been either! I got them through my clinic and they were pretty cheap, esp compared to other ivf meds!

Mine cost under £50 for 60 tablets (four per day) - I don't know the exact figure because I bought some blood thinners at the same time). They seem to make me feel sick and I am religious about taking them after a protein-heavy meal. My clinic (who are crap) said there's no evidence really, but they do no harm.

Thank you @Orangewillow and @SarahAndQuack it’s hard to know what to try and what not to…it all adds up but then I think if we don’t do it, it could end up costing more in the long run. My feeling is with it being relatively cheap it’s probably worth a go! @SarahAndQuack do you mind me asking if yours resulted in a pregnancy?

I think so, but otd Is tomorrow, so its very early. Also - and because my clinic are crap - I didn't start taking it until later on than ideal. So I am not a great test case. I just felt I would regret it if I didn't try. But I really don't know.
