FET Thin Lining

Hey, I've just been for my second lining scan for my 3rd FET and my lining is too thin so transfer for next week has been cancelled 😢bit of background

FET 1 - lining was 7.2mm ended in MMC - elleste solo tablets
FET 2 - lining was 7mm ended in early miscarriage - 2 X evorel patches 100 upped to 3 patches after first scan
FET 3 - last week lining scan was 6.2mm today was 5.2mm - 3 X evorel patches 100 started on the 21st Sept & 75mg aspirin. Transfer cancelled.

Has anyone been in a similar position with thin lining and done anything different to help improve it? I am so gutted this transfer has been cancelled. Just feels like it's neve going to happen for us at the minute and I'm back in the waiting for irregular cycle stage 😭

Hey @waitingforourmiracle I'm sorry your cycle got cancelled, its really gutting. My first transfer attempt was cancelled for thin lining, it got to somewhere under 6.5 and they weren't sure if I'd ovulated so it got cancelled. I'd been on 3 x oestrogen tablets a day

2nd attempt I was on max dose oestrogen for about 3 weeks which suppressed my follicles, lining was I think 6.8 or so, and they decided to go ahead, BFN. After that I had a hysteroscopy to remove some scar tissue, but my Dr also just thought the artifical progesterone wasn't working for me.

3rd attempt I went back onto ivf stims, 300 menopur, and after 6 days I had follicles growing a lining just hitting 7mm and we went ahead with the trigger and transfer 5 days later. As my lining had dipped in previous cycles, my dr didnt want to wait and see if it got any better and said that was fine as it had trilaminar appearance and was close enough to thr 7mmm threshold. That trabsfer was successful and I'm now almost 22 weeks.

I'm sure it was the stims over anything else but I did do acupuncture, drank beetroot and pomegranate juice, ate lots of wholegrains and had a womb massage to try and boost blood flow and lining

@Orangewillow thank you so much for your reply, I actually found one of your old threads earlier while searching so I'm so happy to hear you got your successful transfer!!
I've actually just had a call from the clinic and they've advised that from tonight start progesterone pessaries for 5 days to induce a bleed and then I can go again but add 3xoral tablets so praying that helps! It just never smooth sailing with IVF is it! I've been drinking pomegranate juice so will look at adding beetroot too!! X

@waitingforourmiracle I have had a few cancelled FETs due to thin lining. What we found for my body was that no matter how much esotrogen we pumped into it, it didn’t make much difference. In fact what happened was my lining would then start to collapse, so similar to what happened to you it would get thinner. In the end we opted for a ‘super ovulation’ FET, with low dose stims to get my body to produce its own eostrogen, rather than the artificial one.

Having said that a lot of people have success with increased eostrogen but normally trying different methods. So for example patches alongside oral eostrogen and vaginal eostrogen. Apparently some people absorb it better in different ways. I would push for your clinic to try a combination of eostrogen so your body can absorb in different ways.

As frustrating as it is (and heartbreaking) you are in a SUPER good place that you are physically capable of getting to 7mm. I’ve been on some thin lining community groups and some ladies can never get past 4 or 5mm. So the fact you can get to 7 is very very positive!

im sorry it’s such a difficult journey x

@waitingforourmiracle there are some natural supplements you can try too, but I would get permission from your consultant first. Have a google but I think it is called L-arginine? My consultant had me try that. It didn’t work for me but does for some people.

@Mrsplants thanks for your reply, did the stims work for you? I'm really hoping you had a successful outcome! I'm hoping the mix of oral and patches help this time, I'm relieved I don't have to wait a full cycle again because my cycles are so irregular, I think that's what my initial frustration/upset was this morning. I've actually read about L-arginine this morning so I will defo ask about getting some! X

@waitingforourmiracle on the stims cycle i got to 6.5mm which was what i was aiming for as I just never seem to get past 7. We went ahead and transferred and touch wood I am currently 16weeks pregnant 🤞🏼 x

@Mrsplants I'm so happy to hear that!! I'm wishing you a healthy pregnancy! X

I'd echo what @Mrsplants said. I was in a really similar situation and followed the same protocol.

Hopefully increasing your oestrogen will do the trick, I was also on patches and pessaries which I read in some threads made a difference for some people, as opposed to just the tablets so id ask about that as some peiple absorb differently through other routes.

And I agree the fact you can get to 7 is v positive.

I also took l'argenine and vitamin e which are meant to be good for lining, plus drank raspberry leaf tea pre Fet. Basically tried anything I read that might work!

waitingforourmiracle · 10/10/2025 13:56

Thank you @Orangewillow I'm waiting for the clinic to call again because I was in such a tizz yesterday I want to make sure I understood everything! Will mention l'argenine x
