Embryo Glue or Not?

Looking for advice and not sure where to turn!

For context, we had our egg collection on Monday. 20 eggs collected, 12 mature but only 3 fertilised. I’m 29 years old and TTC for 3 years.

We have been offered Embryo Glue for our transfer (at a cost) and we’re not sure what to do. One doctor has recommended it whereas one has said it is not necessary for my age group.

Realistically we will struggle to afford the glue but we will make it work if needed. I’m just looking for experiences of other people to help weigh up the pros and cons. I know it’s hard because everyone’s journey is so different but need to make a decision by Friday.

Thank you in advance for any guidance!

I’ve done one transfer with embryo glue, one without…neither worked 🤣 Our clinic said that the research on embryo glue is inconclusive, but we figured it was worth a try…

I’ve had pregnancies with and without it so really hard to say. If you can afford it I’d be tempted to go for it as apparently for some people it can make a difference, you just never know if you’re one of those people or not. Some places seem to use it as standard as it doesn’t do any harm even if you don’t technically need it.

Same as PPs. I had two transfers (from two cycles), one worked and one didn’t. Embryo glue is standard in our clinic so hard to say. Sorry not helpful OP, but as pp said if I were in your position I will be inclined to give it a go. Best of luck.

Hi OP, our clinic did it as standard with an opt out option. They said there is no evidence it does any harm and some inconclusive evidence that it can help. It was an easy decision for us as it wasn’t an extra cost. How much are they charging out of interest? Our transfer was successful using it, it was our only transfer we had after 2 failed IUI’s. Will use it again if we decide to go for another transfer. I’ve always felt it working was partly down to the glue despite literally having no way of knowing that!

Thank you all for your feedback 🩷 we have decided to go for it and cross our fingers and toes.

@BtowngirlIt’s £250 so I’m sure not much to some but a lot for us!! Due to where we live, we are only eligible for one round with NHS funding so have decided to throw everything at it and hope for good news.

No I get that, it’s expensive enough anyway without add ons! Such a shame they are charging. I hope it works out for you, please come and update us if you feel up to it ♥️
