Care fertility and transferring 2 embryos

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone knows if Care fertility will transfer 2 embryos at once at 39 years old?
I am sure I have seen or read somewhere that they won’t. I have just had a failed fresh transfer and have 2 embryos on ice. Due to my age I am concerned that if both of these embryos fail, by the time I have done 2 separate frozen transfers my egg quality will have diminished considerably by the time I do another egg retrieval 😫
This was a funded round on the NHS as well and I only qualify for 1 (which I think includes 2 transfers)

Can I request a double transfer?

Hi OP, I am with Care Fertility as well and also believed that they would only transfer one embryo at a time. I'm late 30s as well. At a recent appointment with the consultant, she said to me that she wasn't opposed to transferring two embryos at the same time but did express concern about the risks (twins etc). So after some thought I decided against it, but it was good to know that they will transfer two in future if I wanted. Hope this helps 😊

Think it depends on individual circs

Mine would only do 1 @ a time

I’m interested to know this aswell but I’m at Manchester fertility. I have 2 on ice. One is a 5 day blast 3ab and a 6 day blast at 4ab. I honestly cannot bear the thought of going through another 2 miscarriages (have had 2 already) so I’d rather they transferred both in one go xx

Hi @Lucy80sGirloh that’s interesting to hear that they would consider it for you. Thank you for sharing I will definitely bring it up with my consultant and see what they say.

@boberto88i have 2 4bb’s on ice and i would rather they transfer both as well. Obviously i will need to weigh up the risks with my clinic. I am so sorry youve had 2 miscarriages 😞
Do you know when you are planning your next transfer?

I’ve never had a fet before and not sure how it works. I have a follow up on 23rd Oct so will know more then. I just want it over and done with now. This is my 5th cycle and I’m so done with it now. Keep us posted with how you get on with care. Hopefully they transferred both for you xx ❤️❤️

It’s whether the NHS transfer allows for a double transfer too - some have a lot of restrictions.
i had to push for a double transfer but I was paying and by that point had spent best part of £30k with the clinic.

@Firsttime2023 yes I had 2 transfered though care, they have to take it to a board and discuss it but yes it is possible

boberto88 · 02/10/2025 12:04

are they more reluctant if the embryos are regarded as good quality? Does anyone know? X

redemptionwoes · 02/10/2025 13:42

@boberto88
yes. If they are both AA top grade they won’t transfer or if they are both PGTA tested euploids or if it’s your first transfer

boberto88 · 02/10/2025 14:39

I’ve got 4ab (6 day blast) and a 3ab (5 day blast) what do you think my chances are of a double transfer? X

Firsttime2023 · 02/10/2025 15:31

I spoke to the clinic today and they have said due to the fact I’m NHS funded and my embryos are classed as good quality they won’t do a double transfer. They would if I opted to pay though

@boberto88
it depends on your age and how many transfers you had before

i transferred a 5AA and a day 6 4BB (and had twins)
