Can anyone advise on Bourn halls medicated FET plan? My period is due to start on Friday 10th October and FET 30th October. What days should my scans be on? (estrogen and progesterone)! Feel free to share your protocols as I feel a bit in the dark with dates and planning! Thank you!

Hi, was a few years back for me but there was a first tracking scan to check everything was ok and then on day of bleed started taking oestrogen and then I think was a scan on day 10-12 and then transfer a few days after that. I remember i had to drive over only a couple of times. They were originally in a clinic much closer to me and then it shut and I had to drive miles further. Good luck with your cycle!

Also remember that they may tweak things depending on how you respond etc, try to trust the process and stay calm. Easier said than done I know. I'm a wreck ATM but I'm better at giving advice than taking it 😂

Thank you! Are you also with Bourn hall Wickford? Xx when was baseline scan? They want to schedule when I’m on my period! Doesn’t sound nice! I also wanted to try book a mini break away whilst on the estrogen with mum hence wanting to know dates etc as still pretty traumatised from the egg collection and feeling everything after collecting 90 follicles!

@TTCRainbowBubs 90 follicles? 😲 Wow, you've been through the mill. No wonder you need a break! Have you not been sent a treatment protocol? I would email the nurses your questions but remember that they'll be seeing how you are at each stage. With a FET being such a short process compared with a full IVF cycle, you're generally going to have at least 10 days of just taking oestrogen getting lining ready so that could be a good time to go. Scan on period is normal, they've seen it all! Don't worry about it. None of IVF is nice! I was with Wickford as well as a satellite clinic closer to home. I recall phoning the nurse a few times to actually understand what was happening as it felt like a production line, not at all personalised. I'm now having treatment abroad.

Thank you so much for your message! That’s really helpful! Oh I’m sorry you’ve had to have treatment abroad… guessing it didn’t work out with Bourn hall? :(. Where are you getting treatment if you don’t mind me asking? Yes 90 follicles and it was barbaric! Xx

@TTCRainbowBubs Bourne Hall was a few years ago. I got my son from cycle 2 of IVF there. Had frosties also but sadly they didn't work. I've had subsequent cycles since and then decided on treatment abroad as a last attempt for a sibling. Clinic is in Portugal.

I have just had mine with Bourn hall. I didn’t have a baseline scan. So I started norithisterone 10 days before my period was due. Then estrogen on day 2 of my cycle, starting with 3 increasing to 5 tablets a day. Then cyclogest pessaries twice a day about 6 days before transfer. They didn’t do progesterone bloods so I paid for it on the day.
my scan was day 12 of my cycle and transfer day 25.

TTCRainbowBubs · 01/10/2025 07:48

Thank you so much this is really helpful! How comes you paid for progesterone if they gave you Cyclogest anyway? Wondering if I should do the same? Thank you and good luck xxx

I paid for the blood test to check whether I was absorbing enough because I had a failed FET before. I was found to be low and they prescribed injections so it was worth it for me but I didn’t pay for it on my first time.

TTCRainbowBubs · 01/10/2025 13:06

Ahhh understood! Thank you for the clarification! Can I ask was your second transfer successful? Thank you :) xxx

No worries. It was successful but it’s super early days. We also changed a few other things and chose some other add ons so can’t say it was all down to the progesterone test. Hope that answered your initial question though. Wishing you so much luck and everything crossed for you!

Congratulations lovely that’s amazing! I may come to you to see what else I could change or should be doing if this one fails! But I’m hoping I’ve done enough prep work the last 4 years :)

Hi,

I've just been referred to Bourne Hall Wickford for NHS IVF funding. Is anyone able to advise how long they waited for an initial consultation to starting treatment with them?

Hello I was checking this thread as I was wondering if they weighed you on the day 12 scan? Weight has gone up :-( I’m scared they could cancel the transfer if I can’t get below before then.
