Egg retrieval after miscarriage

We had planned to begin our IVF journey in October. However I unexpectedly fell pregnant naturally. Unfortunately I have just found out from a scan that it is unlikely to be viable. I need to go back in 2 weeks for the second scan & discuss options. I believe they’re hoping I miscarry naturally in the meantime, however this hasn’t happened in my previous miscarriages. My question is, has anyone had a miscarriage and then went on to do egg retrieval? How long were you advised to wait in between if so? The plan was to do a FET next year but I had really hoped we do a couple of retrievals this year if we could. With my last miscarriage, I had the surgery and my next cycle didn’t start for 8 weeks after it.

Im so sorry your going through this uncertainty. I hope by some miracle there is good news in a couple of weeks. As for starting stims and going for an egg retrieval you usually have to wait for a first bleed after the tissue has been expelled and and then usually wait one cycle and then you can start ivf. Most clinics like to make sure all tissue from the pregnancy has been expelled and there is nothing left in the uterus and your periods return normally.

So sorry to hear this. I also fell pregnant naturally just before I was due to start IVF last year and then had a miscarriage in Dec/Jan at 10 weeks, eventually getting the remaining tissue surgically removed. It was probably another 7-8 weeks before my cycle started again but I did have an egg collection in that cycle and it was the only collection cycle (out of 3) that resulted in a euploid embryo so I’m so pleased I did, even though it felt a bit soon at the time. I guess it may depend on the clinic. Wishing you all the very best with it

I had a medically managed miscarriage at the end of August last year and I did a collection in October. My cycle came back straight away.
