To embryo glue or not embryo glue

We’re currently waiting to see if we get any embryos from our collection yesterday. We’re also due a fresh transfer on Saturday. My clinic offer embryo glue as an add on for free and I have emailed them querying using it, I’ll add on their response below. I’m in two minds because one part of me thinks there’s nothing proven that it can help and the other part thinks if I don’t use it and the transfer doesn’t work, it’s my fault. Anyone else?

“We don't have specific information about EmbryoGlue as an add-on from us, but I have attached a link to the HFEA's information page about it. The HFEA are always a great source of unbiased and balanced information so I would always recommend looking at their information.

We don't use Embryoglue for patients as a standard as we have not seen a significant increase in pregnancy and live birth rate. However, we do stock it so we are happy to add it to your treatment, free of charge if you would like it.

If you have any further questions about it, please just let us know. And please let us know if you would like to have Embryoglue for your transfer.”

I used it recently and it didnt work, I was also thinking if I didnt use it and it didnt work out would I always blame myself, so decided to just go for it.

I’d go for it, especially for free. At my clinic I think it was around £300-400! Apparently it can help the people it helps and for others it’ll do no harm so feel like there’s nothing to lose. I’ve been pregnant with it and without it so don’t know where I am on the scale but I haven’t regretted trying it.

We have to pay for it at our clinic, and have done so. My view was the same as yours, if I don’t use it and our transfer fails I will kick myself. I have no result to share as our frozen transfer hasnt been booked yet, still awaiting our PGT-A results.

I also think that all techniques are ‘new’ initially so while there might not be evidence to support it being good for implantation now, there isn’t evidence that it hinders implantation or they would have stopped using it. So it must be neutral or positive, which is odds I'm willing to chance!!

@AlmostTime yss we’ve decided to just go for it. We haven’t done the PGT testing just yet as we’re doing a fresh transfer. I found out this morning on day 2 we have 5 embryos so far so I think any remaining were going to PGT test

Op. I see you have decided to use it anyway but just wanted to chime in.. our clinic also offered it for free if you wanted it, we figured there wasn’t any evidence that it would have a negative effect so like you felt it was worth it. Our first fresh transfer worked and I’ve always wondered if it was due to that! Good luck for your transfer and fingers crossed for a BFP 🤞

@Btowngirl perfect thank you! I find it so bizarre some clinics offer it for free and other clinics charge hundreds for it. We’re currently on day 3 and had a call yesterday to say we have 5 embryos and getting another call tomorrow morning. Praying we have an embryo come Saturday for the transfer 🤞🏻
