8dp5dt boobs suddenly not sore

Hi all

I'm in my first IVF 2ww and 8 days after transfer my boobs have suddenly changed, they are no longer swollen or sore and it seemed to happen quite quickly. I've also been really sweaty in the night which is usually a sign of hormones shifting so I feel like my body is on a come down.

I know everyone says you're not out until a negative test but I just can't see how this can be successful with pregnancy symptoms disappearing!

Any thoughts or advice would be really helpful!

This early on there wouldnt be necessarily pregnancy symptoms as im assuming you would be on progesterone? The medications for ivf and the progesterone gives you these symptoms and in many cases once the progesterone or other ivf medications settle through your system the side effects can start to ease off or as the hormones rise new ones can begin. No symptoms doesnt mean it hasnt worked. Fingers xd for success for you. When is your beta or official test day?

Rosieposy89 · 15/08/2025 08:47

If you're on progesterone, it'll be side effects wearing off from that.
Any 'symptoms' you have now will be from the meds, not true pregnancy symptoms.

PurpleLake · 15/08/2025 11:06

Thanks for the reassurance!

Yes I'm on progesterone and official test date is Tuesday next week. I'm just convinced it's not going to work out and I want it to soooo badly.

I've not had a great history, 2 MMC's from natural conception and now starting IVF as we haven't conceived for over a year now. It's been a long journey to this point!

Would you consider doing a test to put your mind at ease? It’s really hard to know what symptoms are due to the medication, what could be pregnancy related hormones or what might be a period coming on so please try as much as possible not to read into it too much even though I know it’s almost impossible when the 2 weeks go by so slowly! Wishing you the best of luck and I hope this little guy is super sticky ❤️

PurpleLake · 15/08/2025 16:18

@FrostedFlake I'm not sure how early you can test? I've had some red/brown discharge today too which is making me more anxious. It feels like my period is coming but I'm not sure if that's possible on progesterone!

Hi @PurpleLake my OTD is Tuesday too. I'm testing Sunday tho.
I had brown discharge on Monday 4dp5dt - it can be completely normal. Your period can't start on progesterone as the dip in progesterone is what triggers a period. If you test from now onwards with an early one, it'll be accurate

FrostedFlake · 15/08/2025 21:14

@PurpleLake if you have a test like first response or the early clear blue ones you could probably test with first morning urine tomorrow morning and it should give you a fairly accurate result.
it depends on the level of progesterone and some people get their period while on it so it can be quite individual. However it’s more common to get the bleed once you are no longer taking progesterone if it’s been an unsuccessful cycle.

PurpleLake · 15/08/2025 23:28

Thanks everyone. The spotting is getting worse and I feel like my period is going to start so I think this must be a failed cycle. I'll try and hold out until at least Sunday before testing. It's such a hard journey!

You can still get a period on progesterone. I started bleeding on day 9 post transfer and I was on 2 pessaries a day, it doesnt always stop break through bleeds, I then bled for 8 days. If you are starting to get red bleeding I would say it might not have been successful which is really hard. Just wait for otd and see where your at bcos there are cases of people bleeding in early pregnancy and it still he viable . The 2ww after a transfer is so hard because you know you created an embryo and from here on out there is nothing you can do to help said embryo implant, the waiting is so hard. If you tested now you could get your answer.

PurpleLake · 16/08/2025 08:13

@Miraclemuma03 it's really hard! My body has done a complete u turn in about a day and I just can't see how this one can work out. We only have one more to transfer from this cycle.

@PurpleLake hope it all works out for you, Im 7dp5dt and my boobs have also stopped hurting, still have mild cramps on and off and pain on the right side around my ovary when I stand up at times.

I really wanted to test today but DH talked me out of it.

Miraclemuma03 · 17/08/2025 04:39

How is the bleeding now?
Some woman (including myself) have had successful transfers with absolutely no symptoms at all, maybe slightly from the meds. In my own personal opinion, real pregnancy symptoms dont begin until around the earliest week 5 to 6 when the hcg hormone and hightened progesterone are at their peak and reeking havoc on the mum to be.

PurpleLake · 17/08/2025 09:33

@Hopeful786 thank you. I've convinced myself to just wait for test day as I can't plan next steps with my clinic until then anyway.

@Miraclemuma03 thank you. I've never really had many symptoms in my two pregnancies (both ended in miscarriage). It's just the sudden change in symptoms that has thrown me - similar to what I get just before my period in a natural cycle. The spotting has sort of been on and off. Very light pink colour when I wipe. Sometimes has it sometimes doesn't! Not period blood or an actual flow.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a frozen transfer after a failed fresh? My clinic are saying 4-6 weeks so I'm wondering if I'm likely to have one or two cycles in between. Feels like a big wait if it's two.

I spoke to the clinic about the spotting and they seemed to think it was cervical irritation from the progesterone.

Now getting quite a lot of red in the discharge so I think it's game over for this cycle

FrostedFlake · 17/08/2025 14:08

If I were you I’d just test, no point in putting yourself through all of these emotions if you can just know now, but I’m a serial early tester.
I believe most clinics wait for two bleeds. So the initial one post transfer if things don’t work out and one more before you kick the meds off again.

PurpleLake · 17/08/2025 16:59

@FrostedFlake decided I'll test tomorrow as the bleeding is so significant now. I was just so hoping this would work out and was trying to stay positive and now I just feel so gutted. I'm hoping my clinic will get me in for a transfer after my next cycle.

I can’t advise about the heavy bleeding as I’ve only had more like spotting so far - but I definitely had incredibly sore boobs for the first week or so on my FET meds (not sure if it’s the Oestrogen tablets or the Progesterone that caused it) - and now the soreness there has gone, although I am still getting abdominal cramping and even sharp pains sometimes.

My official test date is Monday but after the bleeding I took a test and it is a clear positive so far. Good luck to you 🍀

PurpleLake · 18/08/2025 06:35

@Alexandrine congrats

Period in full flow now and tested negative this morning. Feels awful still using progesterone but posing to speak to the clinic this morning to see if I can stop. I know in reality in can take multiple attempts to get pregnant but I'm feeling so deflated.

Alexandrine · 18/08/2025 11:44

@PurpleLake I’m so sorry Flowers

If it helps at all, the first IVF transfer failed for me too (and the second) - I wasn’t lucky enough to get my son till the third try. I was trying for 3 years and had multiple failed IUI’s too so I remember the frustration and upset well.

(This FET is my last attempt to give my DS a sibling, as at 44 I’m too old to cycle fully again - I’ve just used the last of them frozen from when I was 40. It’s my official test day today so I had to test again, still pregnant but the test looks much lighter today, which I know isn’t a great sign… )

Have you got more frozen embryos? Or will you need to cycle again? Hoping your clinic can get you back in sooner rather than later and that it might be second time lucky for you 🤞

PurpleLake · 18/08/2025 12:48

@Alexandrine I hope it works out for you. We've got two frozen fortunately, so hoping we can get the next one transferred as soon as possible. I expect it will be October now though at the earliest.
